STOP RUSHING. START TRAINING. 🛑
I just posted this on Instagram because I see too many of you making these exact mistakes. If you want to reach a professional level, you have to stop acting like a hobbyist and start thinking like a trainee. In the CHICADANCE community, we don’t care about "looking cool" for a 15-second clip; we care about technical mastery and discipline. Check out the full post on IG here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DUZEFUtCKqr/ Here is the reality of why your growth has plateaued: 1. The Mirror is a Crutch If you can’t execute a "Bounce" or "Isolation" without staring at your reflection, you don’t actually know the move. You’re just reacting to what you see. Turn around. Feel the weight shift in your feet. Use your body awareness, not your eyes. 2. You’re Too Comfortable If your training feels easy, you aren't training. Real growth happens in the awkward, "ugly" phase of learning a new groove or a difficult footwork pattern. If you avoid what you’re bad at, you will stay exactly where you are. 3. You Have No Foundation Dance is 50% technique and 50% physical conditioning. If you lack the core strength to hold a sharp stop or the stamina to finish a 3-minute set with power, your dance will always look "weak." 15 minutes of conditioning is non-negotiable. 4. You Are a Human Photocopier Stop memorizing steps and start understanding mechanics. Why is the weight on the left leg? What is the groove underneath this choreo? If you don't understand the why, your execution will always be messy. 5. Empty Movement A trainee who dances without intention is just a robot. Every movement must have a purpose. If you don't know what you're trying to communicate, the audience won't either. 6. You Lack Patience Mastery isn’t built in a weekend. It’s built over months of boring, repetitive basics. If you’re rushing to learn the latest comeback choreo before you’ve mastered your basic Up/Down bounce, you’re building a house on sand. 🔥The 30-Day Trainee Challenge and the 3-month program are designed to break these bad habits. We strip everything back to the basics, grooves, isolations, and control, until your foundation is unbreakable.
