Summons for non payment of council tax

Hello everyone, it’s great to be here. I wonder if I could get some support of the direction I need to take.

I have struggled financially this year, I have paid some of my council tax. In September 2025 I spoke to them and they told me I was required to pay an amount each month. I tried but some months I’ve had to choose which bill to pay.

I’ve received a summons saying my case is going to be heard at court on 1st December 2025, a big page saying I don’t need to attend etc..

My question is am I too late to do anything at all & if not what is my first step
