Why I Invented the ADAM Takedown Machine – Carl Adams' Story
I've been asked hundreds of times, what drove you to design the first ADAM Takedown Machine? The invention happened over 50 years ago, and we are still at it today. I've given that question a lot of thought. As it turns out, the answer is quite simple. Wrestlers are willing to sacrifice and train so hard because it gives them the best chance to get their hands raised. Here are some absolute facts about wrestling and becoming a dominant wrestler on the feet. Below are also the thoughts that were running through my mind when I was trying to figure out the best way to improve all aspects of the takedown. 1. Great wrestlers have a keen sense of urgency. For most, they know that their opportunity to achieve greatness has a short shelf life at each level. Therefore, wrestlers must advance in all aspects of wrestling as rapidly as possible. 2. In the majority of matches, the wrestler who dominates on the feet will win the match. 3. Improving takedown skills requires that wrestlers perform as many precision reps as possible. 4. Building muscle memory is a must if wrestlers want to develop high-level takedown skills. 5. Most of your great takedown wrestlers have developed great attacking speed. 6. Great takedown wrestlers have great set-ups, precise timing, and position. After getting the ADAM on the market, it was common sense to keep taking this type of equipment to the next level. We believe that our newest Snap and Shoot Takedown System is the best you will find anywhere in the world. Check us out at: adamsathletics.com

Wrestling and Life
Wrestling has always been more than just a sport to me. It’s a training ground for life. Every drill, every match, every setback taught me how to persevere, how to fight for what I believe in, and how to keep showing up with purpose—even when it’s hard. If you can learn how to compete in wrestling, you’ll be ready to compete in the real world. That’s the gift this sport gives. And I’m forever grateful. Keep training. Keep growing.
