My good Americans friends had a house warming party at the same time as celebrating 4th July. They asked me to do a cake. So here is the result. It is nearly as I wanted it but with the heat on the butter cream and font it was not easy. Lifting the font from the bench to the cake was not fun as the font was so soft. The inserting of 50 stars into the font was interesting. I made a few mistakes which I have learnt for the next cake. The cake was not level but luckily this was not noticeable by the guests that I knew! I did the sponges in the 3 colours which people were impressed and it tasted good. So all in all I was quiet happy. The cupcakes were gluten free. And my so American friends in front of the USA flag.

Back in March my good friend Alan did a 20 minute set on stage at a comedy night, came and sat in the audience and instantly had a cardiac arrest. Miraculously he survived with the help of friends, surgeons and nurses. Last week he and his lovely wife organised a charity comedy night back at the same venue to raise money for the cardiac charity. Of course I made a cake :-) I hope you like my model of Alan on top of a two tier chocolate and vanilla cake.

I have been asked to do a 4th July cake by my good friend who is American for a house warming party this Saturday. I will hopefully have it completed on Friday so will post more photos. In the meantime I have just finished painting this sugar floral paste eagle which is going on the cake. I have a picture in my head of the cake. Let’s hope it translates!!! Very therapeutic painting.

This is my son and daughter-in-law that I made in clay yesterday. We had a fun day and learnt loads. The clay is quite firm to start with so lots of manipulating it to warm it up enough to use which seemed to take longer than sugar paste but the results are brilliant. And it’ll last forever. Everyone’s models were brilliant 👏👏👏 Very happy with these 😍
