Greetings, One of the first things most mentees ask me when it comes to sorcery and the Old Ways is, which Spirits should I focus on building a relationship with? While most times I would say beginning with one's Domestic Spirits such as the Spirits of the Home, or one's Ancestor Spirits, really the first place anyone should start would be to seek communion with your Co-Walker. In ancient lore, it is said that when we are incarnated, a spirit comes to this world with us. It has gone by various names, including Guardian Angel, but I like the term Co-Walker. Some liken this spirit to their Wandering Soul or their Higher Self. While there is a bit of wiggle room so to speak, I feel the co-walker to be a separate personage than your eternal Fayerie self embodied. Think of your Fayerie Self as Frodo and your co-walker as a type of Sam Gamgee. Eternally there, helping mediate your luck experience. To begin building this relationship, begin with working on going into your Sensorium. This is an essential practice. Once you have even a modicum of success in this, you can practice something called Profane Scrying. Taking a normal mirror, and a small candle, set yourself in a darkened room. Sit or stand before the mirror. Make sure the candle is not visible by the mirror or your eye, but that there is enough light to see the basic outline of your face. Then, sit there and gently gaze in your eyes through the mirror. This will, over time, induce a light trance state. You may begin to see your facial features change and morph. You might see yourself change into horrible shapes. You might see your skin fall away. You might see nothing but a skull. DO NOT FIGHT the changes. This is natural. Eventually, your face will look "normal", except that the pupils will be gone. It will be like you are looking into an abyss. This is your Co-Walker. When you reach this state, you MUST introduce yourself. And state what your goal is. And that goal is to build a relationship with it and to have that spirit become familiar to you.

One of the things that I lacked growing up was one-on-one training in Witchy things. I have been a practitioner of Witchcraft for over 30 years. I collected books, found friends who likewise were interested, and did all the exercises and spells I could find. And for the most part, NONE OF THEM WORKED. I did all the things and couldnt figure out WHY they didnt work. I was missing THE KEY. It wasnt until later in life that I discovered that my THREE MINDS were not working together. In psychology, we call these THREE MINDS the Conscious, the Subconscious and the Superconscious. We could likewise call them the Middle Mind, Lower Mind and Upper or Higher Mind. In animistic traditions these would be called the Three Souls, the Breath Soul, the Wandering Soul and the Co-Walker. And these three "reside" in the Three Worlds and speak different languages. Learning how they speak to each other and ALIGNING them is crucial to effective rituals and spells.
