Working with Spirits: Sigils
Had a deep conversation over on Tiktok with a fellow practitioner concerning Sigils, their creation and the theories on how and why they work. We focused less on the creation and more on the theories behind their effectiveness and so I wanted to share my own experience from my own paradigm: as a spirit-worker. So, sigils are graphic representations that reach our Lower Self (according to the psychological model). The Lower Self is also called the Child Self as it is our subconscious mind. It is called the Child Self because it speaks in images and symbols (usually through dreams), and our Middle Self, or Consciousness interprets the symbols for practical understanding. When most people make sigils, they take a positive affirmation, phrase or name, and make a graphic representation of it. These then become a focal point for our altered state of consciousness. Sigils, according to the idea of working with Spirits are Signatures of those Spirits. And our Grimoires are full of them. Whether Goetic, Angelic or otherwise, Sigils have been a mainstream of Occult wisdom. And most important, THEY WORK. No matter your paradigm. To me, when we create a Sigil we are creating a connection to an ALREADY EXISTING ENTITY. Its like discovering the phone number of a person that could potentially help in manifesting said goal. Some people feel these are ARTIFICIAL constructions, elementals or egregious only here to serve the bidding of theor creator. But, I find this to continue idea that mankind is somehow superior to all other animals and Spirits. When we create a Sigil, we take a phrase...for instance: I AM PROSPEROUS. Then we get rid of repeating letters: I A M P R O S E U Then the full part, we rearrange the letters to form a NAME or a Mantra. PAIMROSEU. Then we would take either a relevant Planetary Square and translate the letters into numbers to create our sigil, or we could take the letters into any alphabet to create a design that is aesthetically pleasing. This we would then have sitting on our altar as focal point. This is our "phone number". The name would be PAIMROSEU for the Spirit.

@Jill Salmen I likewise feel that way, it personalizes the relationship. As a Mentor though I know the importance of "showing up" for the level of experience a person may be coming from. So, my discussion with this other person concerning the "energy" view as an impersonal force with no personhood, I wpukd describe the Sigil as a schematic of a motherboard or a computer program wherein the "energy" can be directed. Or as a way for the mind to access archetypes in the self from the point of view of a psychological framework. But yes, personally, I go with the Signature or Sigil as a personal Seal or telephone number. And how yoi handle the initial "calls" can determine the successful application of said Working.
Myths and Scripture are Fayerie Tales
Over in Facebook, a close friend of mine has been leaving comments on posts referencing Christian ideas to the point that I had to make a comment on it...and I like to share here, my thoughts on it from the point of view of a Fayerie Traditionalist. He commented on a post and this is a paraphrase of my response: "...and to me the Bible is just another fairy tale. So citing the Bible to me is like saying Frodo really did destroy Sauron by destroying the ring. I really dont care. If that myth serves your life cool. But it has no bearing on my life. Its not my myth." And naturally he private messaged me: "You know calling the Bible a fairy tell i have to ask what do to hurt you what driving it like that because I love and I can tell the difference between anger and hurt." So, I wrote a post on my "Witchy Page" a short diatribe: "To me, all myths and legends, all religious books are Fayerie Tales. And most people that hear that get knee-jerk reaction, especially when it concerns their most beloved beliefs. For instance, when I call the Christian Bible a "fairy tale", they tend to feel that I am attacking, not only their religion, but, themselves. That just isnt the case. The same goes for the followers of the Quran, the Tanakh and Torah, the Iliad and Odyssey, the Norse Sagas and the Upanishads. These are all STORIES, passed down and collected by adherents of their faith or by historians. Some are Literalists. They feel that their books have some sort of provenance above other stories and that their stories are completely true. They were written down and told by the various priesthoods and historians of the time. But, in the end, in my opinion, they are stories. Does this invalidate them as holding some sort of truth? No. Most record historical events which have been confirmed by archeologists and anthropologists. They can instruct in life lessons. They can hold some deep cosmological significance to a practitioner who builds a relationship with mentioned entities.

@John Richards I have had a lot of experiences with not only Christians when it comes to the placing of specific tales as truths. I remember in the early 2000s with the rise of various Reconstructionalists looking at such things as the various Norse Sagas as well as the ancient Greek myths when it comes to specific practices and beliefs systems. While most of those are not heavily charged with concepts of "right" and "wrong" when it comes to moral and ethical dilemmas of being alive in a social world, they too have a lot of influence upon the formation of group think. When I began seeking deeper understandings of how these tales and books were formed and the heavy influence of the writers and editors, I realized that there is going to be current interpretations that might misconstrue meaning. We have seen it with the creation of what now passes for The Bible(TM) versus all the various books and letters that were excluded. We see it with the Churches various Synods and Councils, deliberating what side they will take. It is easy to see how these very things could have likewise (and did) influence what lore and literature we have still of pre-Christian tales and social taboos from Pagan Europe (and beyond). We even see it with the sanitation of folklore and Fayerie Tales. A retelling, while the core wisdom lays buried between the lines. Real entities...real history...superimposed on real events by real people. But, like a game of telephone, it gets distorted. And honestly, if I was to pick any tale to be "my bible" with a Monotheistic bent, it would actually be Tolkien's Legendarium (as I am a co-founder of The Ways of Arda's Lore, once known as Tïe eldálieva).
The Importance of Altered States of Consciousness in Witchcraft
You can use all the ingredients, say all the words, and make all the motions a spell or ritual calls for, but if you cannot alter your state of consciousness you will not have a strong effect upon the world around you. Achieving such a state honestly is not as easy as it may seem. Where some people can easily use a guided meditation, others might need other means to do such. There can never be "one true way" of bridging the worlds. Most Witches come to the understanding of consciousness-shifting via the Eight means mentioned by Gerald B. Gardner (founder of Gardnerian Wicca), but I learned about 12 Gateways to Power via Christopher Penczak (Temple of Witchcraft Tradition). Utilizing as many of these can assuredly help you achieve this state. Our Conscious Mind does not like not being in control. When we attempt to alter our state of consciousness, it fights back. Thus it is important to learn to train your Middle Self to let go. One means of doing this, and it seems the most boring, is to Countdown. Begin by getting physically relaxed by whatever means you utilize. Close your eyes. And then, on the Screen of your Mind, visualize a set of numbers appearing. Begin with 12, counting down to 1. If you cant visualize the number, practice can help. Take your hand or mentally see yourself drawing the number. Focus on each number, knowing that the number is there. If you break concentration, start over. If you can maintain that. Try a higher number. The goal is to reach 100. This trains the mind to hold this focus for a long period of time. Many are there who can achieve an altered state, but cant maintain it when they absolutely need it. I will be creating video guides to do this here soon. They will be part of my upcoming course on developing psychic abilities.

The Importance of Altered States of Consciousness in Witchcraft
Weekly Gathering
Due to craziness last Sunday I was unable to host our first Skool Call gathering. I hope to rectify that this week. So, this Sunday at 6PM Pacific Time we will try again. Mind you, this will be my first time using it, so there might be bumps in it. I plan on it going on for one hour. And you are all invited.

@Jill Salmen I definitely took you into consideration with the timing. If you know anyone else interested in joining us here, please pass the word along. I should be done with the recent edits to that first course in the next few days.
Working with Clauneck (Goetic Spirit)
Lately I have been doing a dedicated ritual to build a relationship with a specific Goetic Spirit. This Spirit is known as Clauneck. We are introduced to this entity briefly in the Grimorium Verum as one of the eighteen servitors of Syrach, as well as the Key of Solomon, where both state that he is "beloved of Lucifer". This Spirit, in all accounts, seems highly connected to the acquiring (or taking away of) wealth. He is very picky about the attitudes of those who summon him, as he doesnt do disrespect well. For awhile, I have been setting up my working space, and laying his sigil before my area. I do my normal Breaching (which I describe in Sorcery: Working with Spirits 101 course). A few things I have learned about working with him: 1. He loves being recognized for his work. If you work with him, make sure that you publicly thank him for his help. Kind of like you might publicly thank and advertise for your favorite Tarot reader or author. He really enjoys this. 2. He has a specific chant that he likes. Many who study Demonolatry might know that there are specific chants, called enns, that can be listened to or intoned when working with a spirit. There is one on YouTube that he prefers being used when in communion. And it can be found here: https://youtu.be/vQGrOPisO1A?si=oFRfjK5GuHvlYGPB 3. He loves when you burn Dragon's Blood. It is like taking a shot of coffee to him. Since working with him I havent become rich by any means. But, I have noticed a strong "trickle" of extra funds. First, I discovered SKOOL literally an hour after my first attempt to work with him. I discovered the specific YouTube video he likes the next night (and play it loud, not using headphones, spirits prefer it). I have been able to acquire enough change every two weeks to fill my gas tank without using my card. So, small wins. I found an old financial Abundance course I had sitting around (which will go live in a few days).

For instance, here is my current set up. This is the Covenant Sigil (which amazingly looks like the Irish Heydon branch coat of arms). Surrounding it are four pieces of Preseli Bluestone and a Quartz pillar. I have my water and fire and a chalice I use for incense. Two crows feathers for The Mórrígan and statues of the Queen and King of Spirits. I have the Seal of Clauneck. On the Bluestone right in front of it, I have used as my offering stone (which I regularly carry with me. Doing the Breaching, then give a small drop of blood, light some Dragon's Blood incense as a direct offering to Clauneck. Sit with my YouTube video and chant the enn alongside or just listen to it. And softly gaze at the Seal. Let yourself fall into trance. You would be amazed at what will happen. But, if you have a Scrying Mirror, place that ON the Covenant Sigil and place the Mirror where I have Clauneck's seal. The reason for this, is you are now using the Crossroads like a phone can send video calls. The Scrying Mirror becomes your phone when trancing out. I am currently awaiting my order. I recently purchased as an early Yule gift, an obsidian scrying Mirror and two gem pillars. So, cant report in manifestations yet.
