Grievances: The Hidden Saboteurs of Team Trust + a Somatic Reset Practice
In A Course in Miracles, a grievance is defined as any thought that blocks your awareness of love. Not just dramatic betrayals or blowups—but even the most subtle irritations and “harmless” judgments.
In teams, these look like:
  • Withholding appreciation because someone missed a deadline
  • Avoiding a difficult conversation because “they should know better”
  • Rolling your eyes (internally or externally) when someone shares a new idea
  • Staying silent in meetings, not out of respect, but from passive resentment
Each of these creates invisible barriers. Not just between people—but within you.
Grievances fracture:
  • Psychological safety
  • Creativity
  • Vulnerability-based trust
  • Co-regulation
  • Authentic collaboration
💡 Grievances don’t just block love—they block flow. They freeze energy in your nervous system, and in your organizational field.
So - if you are willing, let's go into the body and investigate with curiosity what is ready to shift.
💠 Somatic Practice: Releasing the Unspoken
1. Ground: Sit with your feet flat on the ground. Breathe slowly and gently.Bring your awareness into your body.
2. Locate: Call to mind a recent team dynamic that felt off. Not necessarily dramatic—just where energy felt stuck. Where do you feel that in your body? Tight chest? Locked jaw? Flushed face?
3. Witness without Judgment: Place your hand over that area and say:
“I acknowledge this sensation. I let go of the need to defend or be right. I choose presence.”
4. Breath Pattern: Inhale through the nose for a count of 4, retain for a count of 4, exhale out the mouth for a count of 6. Repeat this cycle 5 times. On each exhale, imagine the charge of that grievance dissolving into the earth.
Allowing yourself to sit in the stillness for a moment. ...And then, inviting to take out your journal or your voice memos and reflect with this questions:
  • What’s one small irritation I’ve been carrying toward a teammate, collaborator, or myself?
  • What story have I made up about this person/situation?
  • If I viewed this through the eyes of love, what would I see instead?
  • What is this grievance blocking me from receiving?
  • What would I be free to express, offer, or create if I released it?
Loving Remembering:
Radiant leaders don’t need to be perfect—they need to be willing.
Willing to notice. To pause. To see again.
Let’s turn grievances into gold. Let’s lead from love.✨
