Regulation Starts in the Body
Most parents try to talk their child out of big feelings. But a dysregulated brain can’t hear logic. Start with the body - that’s where calm begins. 💚

Regulation Starts in the Body
Start with the body. Always. 💚
Behaviour doesn’t start with “bad choices.” It starts with the nervous system. When a child is dysregulated, their behaviour is not coming from logic - it’s coming from state. Fight. Flight. Freeze. Shutdown. This is why strategies alone don’t work in the moment. 👉 You can’t problem-solve with a brain that isn’t online yet. In BHB, we always ask: What state is the body in first? Because when we understand the state, the behaviour starts to make sense - and our response shifts. Instead of: “Why are they acting like this?” We move to: “What do they need right now to feel safe and regulated?” That’s where change actually begins. — 💡 Try this today: Before you respond to behaviour, pause and ask yourself: Body, Heart, or Brain? Start with the body. Always. That one shift will change more than any script ever could. 💚

Safety before Strategy
Most behaviour strategies fail for one simple reason. They are applied before the nervous system is ready. When a child is overwhelmed, the brain shifts into protection mode. In that state: • Reasoning doesn't land • Consequences don't teach • Lectures don't work Not because a child refuses. Because the brain cannot access learning while it feels unsafe. Safety restores the conditions for cooperation. Safety before strategy. Always. 💚 Where do you notice this most in your day?
