Weekly Q&A Guidelines
Each week you can submit questions about parenting challenges, behaviour, or applying the Body–Heart–Brain framework in real situations. How it works: 1️⃣ Each week I’ll post a new Weekly Q&A thread 2️⃣ Submit your questions by commenting in the week's post 3️⃣ I review the questions each week and responses are posted by Sunday evening Answers may include: • a short video response • a written breakdown of the situation • individual replies to specific questions What to ask, Examples: • “My child melts down every morning before school — where would BHB start?” • “What does the Body step look like when my child refuses to listen?” • “How do I handle sibling conflict using Body–Heart–Brain?” A quick note: I may not be able to answer every question individually each week, but I always aim to respond to the patterns and situations that will help the most families. 💚 Leslie

Start with the body. Always. 💚
Behaviour doesn’t start with “bad choices.” It starts with the nervous system. When a child is dysregulated, their behaviour is not coming from logic - it’s coming from state. Fight. Flight. Freeze. Shutdown. This is why strategies alone don’t work in the moment. 👉 You can’t problem-solve with a brain that isn’t online yet. In BHB, we always ask: What state is the body in first? Because when we understand the state, the behaviour starts to make sense - and our response shifts. Instead of: “Why are they acting like this?” We move to: “What do they need right now to feel safe and regulated?” That’s where change actually begins. — 💡 Try this today: Before you respond to behaviour, pause and ask yourself: Body, Heart, or Brain? Start with the body. Always. That one shift will change more than any script ever could. 💚

Hi! I'm joining you from NB, Canada. I'm a mom of two (6 & 8) and a school counsellor/resource teacher. I created the Body-Heart-Brain framework after years of watching the same pattern: strategies that work in theory but fall apart when emotions escalate. What changed everything for me was understanding the nervous system. Once the order became clear — Body → Heart → Brain — behaviour started making a lot more sense. I'm so glad you're here and looking forward to getting to know everyone in our community. - Leslie 💚
