Daily Check-In - Tuesday 6 October
This is your space to practise reflection and planning, two skills that are just as crucial to your results as anything you're learning in Encoding or Retrieval. New here? Use this formula. It's built to take under 2 minutes, so there's no excuse not to do it daily. Day [X] Today: [Win/Draw/Loss + Justification] Tomorrow: [A 1% improvement to make tomorrow slightly better] Already doing Self-Management work? Swap the formula for your own deeper daily reflection (Kolb's) and plan. It's the same underlying process, just with more depth. Key rule for "Tomorrow": your 1% improvement must be a change to your system or process rather than just a task on your to-do list. - ✅ System change: "Deleting Instagram from my home screen" → benefits every day after this one, automatically. - ❌ Just a task: "Do a physics past paper" → helps once, then you're back to zero. Remember, always progress over perfection

🗓️ Weekly Review 3 October
I just want everyone to take 10 minutes to truly reflect on the week gone by. Don't just start typing immediately, maybe get up and pace around for a bit to help you deeply think "How did this week truly go, and was there anything else I could have realistically done to make it better?" It would be easy to just say "got some work done, but was a bit distracted so want to work on that for next week" but this isn't training our metacognition skills which we all know is what will allow us to really quickly find the root cause of our issues. Your goal is to find the few biggest things that shaped your entire week, good or bad, that you want to control for next week. Don't get bogged down in the minutiae, focus on the big picture stuff. A good reflection here will make the weekly plan so much easier tomorrow
Approach for weekends
Not sure if you guys feel the same way, but it feels to me a bit as though I lose momentum a bit through saturday/sunday without a daily wrap up. ik we have the weekly review/plan instead but it doesn't quite help maintain that same momentum throughout the weekend Wanted to put this to you guys first, but do you think it would be worthwhile having a short daily wrap up on saturday/sunday as well as the weekly plan and review?
🗓️ Weekly plan 4-10 October
A good weekly plan is absolutely critical to ensuring you continue to make solid progress week in, week out. New here? Use this formula. Ask yourself "What would I really like to get done over the next 7 days to make huge progress towards my long term goals" Then split your answer into two groups: General: [Your usual weekly plan — school, work, life] Bloom: [What you'll do this week to improve your study system itself] It's easy to get tunnel-visioned on school work alone as assignments and exams feel urgent, so they eat your whole plan. The "Bloom" column forces you to protect time for upgrading how you work, not just doing more of it. Still feel uncertain? Head to the Daily/Weekly Plans channel and look through some previous plans for inspiration Your ultimate goal is to have some metric to compare against at the end of the week to determine if your week was a success.
