Engagement competition finished
Hey everyone, just a quick congratulations to Maria who won the engagement competition over the past few weeks! With exams wrapping up at the moment and holidays coming soon I hope to see everyone hitting the ground running so they can make next term exceptional!

@Isaac T nope. I did a bit of English tutoring but stopped before trials bc it was a complete waste of time. Never got tutoring for any other subjects. All of the methods that I’ve adopted were created through free online advice alongside my own reflection and iteration

I would call this a 'context' statement which I would add before any of the pros and cons. This is useful to show an additional deeper understanding of the underlying process before you begin to go into the pros and cons. I personally wouldn't consider this to be essential as long as you address pasteur's work sufficiently in your pros and cons. However if you feel it adds depth to your responses and doesn't 'steal the thunder' of your pros and cons, I think it would be beneficial. To give you another example of how this might look for an evaluate haemodialysis as a strategy: Criteria: (what would haemodialysis have to do to be effective) Context: sentence or two describing what haemodialysis is and how it works pros cons judgement
Consistency with exams
I recently just completed my exams and I'm slowly receiving feedback for each subject. I find that I often do better in Term 1 but my results drop in Term 2 exams. I'm not sure if it is due to a lack of motivation or some other factor, but I'd appreciate any advice on how to remain consistent throughout the year.

Additionally, did you prepare differently for each set of exams?

Regarding the issue of wanting to find a consistent study system that can be relied on no matter what content is taught, this is where I would highly recommend watching 'The Bloom System' as this is what I cover heavily in the lessons. My advice would be to start watching the lessons and create a plan for your specific subjects and your specific situation. Then post that in the community for advice and I can help you tailor it to your needs 😊

I would recommend purchasing/borrowing the excel success one biology book as it is the most comprehensive resource for finding questions by module. The best free alternative that I have found is on the hsc survival kit drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PjjbRmvG6GG_TDyqMg1eAXd1rQnj18ID (also linked in additional resources). It has some scanned copies of questions by module but imo it is less comprehensive than S1.
Harry McKerihan - About me
Hey everyone! I'm Harry, founder of Bloom Learning. I created Bloom with a goal of sharing the gift of effective learning habits with as many as possible to help create a world where education is accessible and attainable to everyone. A bit about me: - I'm based in Sydney, Australia - I'm a current 1st year student at the University of Sydney, studying a Bachelor of Science (Advanced), doing a double major in neuroscience and physiology (though I'm about to switch out physiology for psychology lol) - My goal is to continue to study a Master's of Education, a PhD in educational psychology and become a global leader in learning science, updating the current education system, which has been unchanged for over 100 years. - I'm also a big sports fan. I've played golf since I could walk, I love working out, and I'm a mad Canberra Raiders fan (Raiders slander will not be tolerated... jk). I also love AFL and Cricket (but only test). - I'm very much looking forward to getting to know all of you! Ik introductions seem rly cringe and often quite daunting, but I promise this is for a reason. If we can work to break down some of the barriers that exist between us, we can develop a really close knit community. Pro tip: After you post your introduction, find a few other people who seem to have similar interests to you (ie similar subjects, similar extracurriculars etc) and introduce yourself personally. Failure to post an introduction, and I will track you down (only half joking...)
