Welcome to the month of August. While it’s easy to suppose that everyone here is a born again Christian, this conversation about what it truly means is worth having. For some, being a Christian has become a title, an inherited religion passed down by parents or just a convenient mark of identity. However being a follower of Christ exceeds all these. Being a born again believer is about following Christ for ourselves because we agree/want/choose to do so. It’s our personal response to the free gospel of his death and resurrection that has led to the forgiveness of our sin, when we seek God’s mercy/forgiveness, after we cry/call out to God in prayer. Being born again follows from our repentance and belief in Christ as our ultimate savior, Lord and master. Shows that we have confessed our sins, and believed in the Lord a Jesus for salvation. So the question is: are you born again. Can you share your salvation story in simple and clear terms? If unsure, it’s not too late to come to the Lord today. Simply confess your sins, repent of them and accept the free gift of salvation/abundant life Christ has given. Have you done that? You’re welcome into God’s family. If you are already born again, well hopefully this reminds you that we are saved by Grace alone, through faith alone and not by works lest anyone boasts. Being reminded of the gospel is important as it showcases, not only the wonderful nature of Christ’s gift, but reminds us to also share the free gospel to other so they too can be set free. How will you reach out to the lost today? Happy new month.
