MAKE ROOM AT THE TABLE ❤️
Something happened this morning that I haven’t stopped thinking about.
I met someone for coffee—well, she wanted good coffee and I had tea. ☕️🫖
But God had something much bigger planned than what we were drinking.
While she was ordering, she met a young woman at the counter. A conversation started, and before long, that young woman was sitting at our table.
She wasn’t part of the plan.
But I believe she was part of God’s plan.
We listened to her. We encouraged her. We shared pieces of our stories. And before she left, she said, “Let’s do this some more.”
After she left, the conversation between the two of us continued—and it went even deeper.
By the time I left, my head was spinning with everything we had talked about and how clearly I could see God moving through conversations that none of us could have orchestrated.
And this is what I keep hearing:
Make room at the table.
We spend so much time asking God, “What is my purpose?”
Maybe sometimes our purpose is already sitting across from us.
Maybe becoming who God created us to be isn’t always about finding the next big assignment.
Sometimes it’s noticing.
Listening.
Inviting.
Encouraging.
Making room.
Hebrews 13:2 reminds us not to forget to show hospitality to strangers because we never really know what God may be doing through an encounter.
TODAY’S BECOMING PRACTICE
Think about the people God has placed around you lately.
Is there someone you need to notice?
Someone you need to invite into the conversation?
Someone who needs encouragement?
Someone who simply needs a seat at the table?
And maybe the bigger question is:
Are you leaving enough room in your life for God to interrupt your plans?
👇 Finish this sentence in the comments:
“This week, I’m going to make room for __________.”
You never know what God might do with an open seat. ❤️🙏
