Communicative Achievement
As you may know, CA assesses your ability to write according to the conventions of the task, among other aspects. Reflect on the way a review should be written: formal, informal or semi-formal? And how's the paragraph below written?
Today's task! 📝 Read this paragraph from a review of a streaming series. The examiner gave it a 2 in Communicative Achievement. The grammar is fine… so what went wrong? 🤔
If you're looking for your next binge-watch, this probably isn't it. It is widely acknowledged that streaming platforms have transformed the manner in which we watch TV, but this series? Total letdown. The characters are flat and boring — furthermore, the plot presents several deficiencies with regard to coherence. I nearly switched off after episode two! Nevertheless, it must be stated that the soundtrack is brilliant, so it's not all bad.
