A Leader's search for meaning
Quote I like: "Man is by nature a political animal, and he who by nature and not by mere accident is without a state, is either a bad man or above humanity." - Aristotle During the past few months I've been searching. This community project and others, have really put my beliefs in question... and I have to say that it has shown me growth like I haven't experienced in the past decade since I've chosen this path. Key things that stand out: 1. It's not only about the mind (how do I frame things), it's also about the heart (what do I want, what makes my heart sing, where does my intuition guide me) 2. Taking extreme ownership works, however, we are all contributors to our shared reality. In order to maximize the impact which I feel I can have, I have to be selective about new arrivals in my life and pick wisely. We may not choose our colleagues, but we can choose who to interact with and how to interact with them. (this is a huge post on it's own) 3. Daily action is what sets apart winners from losers, the motivated from the unmotivated, feeling good vs felling depressed. In the past 6 months, I've had many ups and downs and most of the times when I've felt great were times when I was contributing, creating and moving things. On the other spectrum I've felt down, stressed and unworthy when I was letting myself down (not doing my push-ups, not working on my vision, not reviewing my daily performance, not doing my tasks, etc.) 4. Be compassionate. This is a tough one. I've mentally understood for many years that everyone suffers and is hurt in several ways. But I've never understood it really. It never became part of my DNA, until recently. There's a lot of backstory behind this and some of it is very recent and personal, but, all the things that have happens have shown me that most people are desperate for kindness. They are in need of kind words and appreciation. This is really, not that easy in a world where the dominant culture looks for threats, blame and resentment more often than not. Going on the path, of love, empathy and compassion is much more challenging.
