Have You Ever Felt Like You Failed?
You didn’t lose your ambition. You didn’t become ungrateful. You didn’t forget how hard you’ve worked to get here. You just woke up one day and realized… the life you built fits someone you used to be. That’s not a crisis. That’s an invitation. You haven’t failed your life; you’ve outgrown the version of yourself who created it. That’s where we start.

Have You Ever Felt Like You Failed?
Set a 90 Minute Timer
If I don't set a timer, I'll work until my body is stiff. A few years ago, I learned about working in blocks of time. I am not sure who it is attributed to, but when I am working on a project, I work in 90-minute blocks of time. That way, I don't tire myself out, and I can stay fresh when working. What do you do to keep yourself on track and productive?

Legacy = New Generational Patterns
I had one of those moments this weekend that made me pause and reflect on legacy. While I was in Los Angeles, my friend and I took my son Brenton’s fitness class. Now… my friend has taught group fitness for TWENTY YEARS. After class she leaned over and said: “Dawn… he’s good. He’s really good. And he has the look.” That meant a lot coming from her. But I was watching with another lens too. I became a certified yoga teacher in 2013. A 500-hour teacher in 2019. And I trained 24 people to become yoga instructors. So I know what it takes to lead a room. Brenton did it with ease. He commanded the space. His instructions were clear. He told people what they were doing, how to do it, when to do it, and the name of the movement again. Anyone who has trained teachers knows how important that is. He sequenced the entire class well and even timed the music perfectly. That can take years to learn. But what struck me most wasn’t just his skill. It was the cycle. The work we do on ourselves doesn’t stop with us. For years I’ve been studying and teaching about identity, patterns, and the ways we can interrupt the cycles we inherit. That work is a big part of my book. Watching my son confidently step into leadership reminded me of something powerful: When one person in a family begins doing deep identity work, the next generation often steps into a different possibility. A new cycle. And seeing that in real life is pretty incredible. Just wanted to share that moment with you all today. 💗

Judge a Book by its Cover
I’ve been working with a virtual assistant team for a couple years. And I trust them a lot because the owner of the agency takes time to match me with the right type of people for my projects. She knows me. We’ve been working on the cover design and art for my upcoming book. And as we’ve been talking, I wanted to make sure that it’s about me but NOT really about me. If that makes sense. 😜 They are sensitive to my needs and desires which is optimal for creating a self published book.
