BPDA
Borderline Personality Disorder Anonymous
Hi Everyone!
I'm excited to announce this free recovery group! It's similar to other 12-step programs.
Join the movement of people with BPD supporting each other through a lifestyle of recovery and community. This group is focused on people who suffer from symptoms of BPD and their loved ones.
We mirror the other 12 step fellowships, where we have no opinion on anything. There is no crosstalk and the 12 steps tailored to borderline personality disorder recovery are provided.
Step 1 — Acknowledgment
We acknowledged that our emotional responses and patterns had become bigger than our ability to manage alone, and that our relationships and inner world were suffering as a result.
Step 2 — Openness
We became open to the possibility that healing was available to us, whether through community, a higher power, science, or something greater than our current understanding.
Step 3 — Surrender
We made a decision to release our grip on controlling outcomes and trust the process of healing, leaning into support rather than isolation.
Step 4 — Inventory
We took an honest and compassionate inventory of our emotional patterns, triggers, resentments, relationships, and the ways our symptoms have shown up in our lives — without judgment.
Step 5 — Disclosure
We shared our inventory openly — with ourselves, with our community, and with a trusted person — acknowledging the impact of our patterns on ourselves and others.
Step 6 — Willingness
We became willing to examine and release the adaptive behaviors that once protected us but no longer serve our healing and growth.
Step 7 — Asking
We humbly sought support — from our community, our practice, and our higher understanding — to help us rewire the patterns keeping us stuck.
Step 8 — Accountability
We made an honest list of the ways our symptoms have caused harm — to ourselves first, and then to others — and became willing to take responsibility without self-destruction.
Step 9 — Amends
Where it was safe and appropriate, we made amends to those we had harmed — beginning with ourselves — understanding that changed behavior is the most powerful amends we can make.
Step 10 — Maintenance
We committed to ongoing self-awareness — regularly checking in with our emotional state, our patterns, and our relationships, and course-correcting with compassion when needed.
Step 11 — Connection
We deepened our practice of stillness, reflection, and conscious connection — whether through meditation, prayer, movement, or any practice that grounds us in our values and purpose.
Step 12 — Service
Having experienced growth and healing through this process, we committed to showing up for others in their journey — sharing our experience, strength, and hope within our fellowship and beyond.
