THE DOCTOR’S PRESCRIPTION
“You do not need everyone to understand your evolution in order to honor it.”
THE DIAGNOSIS
There comes a point in your growth when the person you are becoming will no longer fit the expectations people have placed on you. And that’s where many people stop.
Not because they lack potential. Not because they lack opportunity. But because somewhere along the way, they became addicted to permission.
Permission to change.
Permission to dream bigger.
Permission to establish boundaries.
Permission to leave what no longer fits.
Permission to become someone others have never experienced before.
We often say we want transformation—until transformation requires disappointing someone’s expectations of us.
But here’s the prescription:
You cannot ASCEND while constantly asking people who are comfortable with your current altitude for permission to climb.
THE PRESCRIPTION
Give yourself permission to evolve. Growth will sometimes make people uncomfortable because they’ve built a relationship with a version of you that you are outgrowing.
That’s okay.
You don’t have to become disrespectful.
You don’t have to become arrogant.
And you certainly don’t have to abandon the people you love. But you must stop abandoning yourself to keep everyone else comfortable.
Some people will understand your growth.
Some will question it.
Some will celebrate it.
Others may resist it.
None of those responses determine whether you have permission to continue. Your assignment is not to remain recognizable. Your assignment is to remain aligned.
ASCEND INSIGHT
ASCENSION requires separation before elevation.
Not necessarily separation from people—but separation from identities, beliefs, behaviors, and expectations that belong to an earlier version of you. Think about a seed. The seed cannot remain intact and become the tree.
Something must break.
Something must change.
Something that once protected it eventually has to be released.
The same is true for you. There are versions of yourself that helped you survive one season but cannot lead you into the next. Honor who you were. Learn from who you were. Then give yourself permission to become who you’re called to be.
THIS WEEK’S PRACTICE
This week, complete these three statements:
1. I am giving myself permission to…
What have you been waiting for someone else to approve?
2. I am no longer responsible for…
What expectation have you been carrying that doesn’t belong to you?
3. The person I am becoming requires me to…
Name one action your next level demands.
Then take that action this week.
Make the call.
Establish the boundary.
Start the project.
Change the routine.
Have the conversation.
Walk through the door.
Permission has been granted.
WEEKLY AFFIRMATION
I give myself permission to grow.
I release the need to be understood by everyone.
I honor where I’ve been without allowing it to determine where I’m going.
I am not required to remain who I was simply because others are familiar with that version of me.
I choose alignment over approval.
I choose purpose over permission.
I embrace who I am becoming.
Today, I ASCEND.
REFLECTION QUESTION
Where am I waiting for permission from someone who was never assigned the authority to give it?
Sit with that.
Because sometimes the door isn’t locked. You’re simply standing outside waiting for someone to invite you into a room that already belongs to you.
THE DOCTOR’S CLOSING NOTE
Growth changes things. It changes your conversations. It changes your priorities. It changes what you tolerate. It changes where you spend your time. And yes—sometimes it changes who can comfortably journey with you.
Don’t shrink to preserve familiarity. Don’t apologize for becoming healthier. Don’t feel guilty for establishing boundaries. And don’t confuse someone’s discomfort with your disobedience.
You have permission to become.
Not next year.
Not when everybody understands.
Not when everybody approves.
Now.
The next version of you is not asking you to be perfect. It’s asking you to be willing.
💊 THE PRESCRIPTION
Stop asking for permission to become who your purpose already requires you to be.
The prescription has been written. The healing begins when you apply it.
THINK HIGHER. | LIVE DEEPER. | ASCEND.
