I know I posted the commission changes last night, so I hope you all had a chance to feel your feelings, maybe have a little cry about it, vent to your husband, your friend, your dog… whatever you needed to do.
And now- we move on.
Because naturally, I’ve spent the last 24+ hours doing what I always do when something like this happens… I went down the rabbit hole. I watched a ton of videos, listened to other creators (including a lot of the ones we all follow), and really thought long and hard about what this actually means for us moving forward.
And here’s where I’ve landed…
I still do NOT think this is the end of the Amazon Influencer Program. Not even close.
Yes- on-site commissions got cut. And yes, that sucks. I’m not going to sugar-coat that.
But when you actually zoom out and look at the numbers, we’re really talking about a 1–2% difference.
That’s it. Onsite commission percentages were never very high.
And if you’ve been around long enough, you know this isn’t the first time. A few years ago, commissions were sitting around 4–8%. Then they dropped to 2–4% and guess what- people continued to make really good $$. Now we’re sitting around 0.5–3%.
So yes- it’s lower. But this isn’t some shocking, apocalyptic collapse. And what this really does is force us to get more intentional. If we’re being honest, there was a period of time where people were making money a little too easily—on products they didn’t own, content they didn’t really create , and just low-effort uploads.
Which sucks in the short term for those of us who have been authentically growing while also reaping the benefits but it also creates more space for people who are actually willing to do this properly.
That’s us and really- everything we’ve been doing in this group was already building toward this.
More focus on product research. More focus on choosing the right products. Leaning into Creator Connections. And not relying on just one stream of income.
If you’ve been here since January and actually following the weekly challenge, you know this was structured intentionally and the goal has always been multiple income streams from 1 video.
Most of you started with zero experience. No content, no online income, no idea what you were doing.
And now? You’re creating, you’re posting, you’re learning, you're making $$ and a lot of you are finally starting to find your rhythm.
That doesn’t just disappear because commissions dropped by 1–2%.
You didn’t waste your time.
You built a foundation.
And now we build on top of it.
Also-and I really want to be clear about this because I know some of you are wondering…
I’m not discouraged. If anything, this lit a fire under me.
This group isn’t going anywhere. I’m not going anywhere. I’m not pulling back or quitting.
We’re just going to adjust, get smarter, and keep going.
Because at the end of the day, Amazon is still one of the easiest and most accessible ways to earn online, and I truly believe that everyone should ne earning online in this digital era we live in.
You’re not building a business from scratch. You’re not creating an offer, trying to grow an audience, validating ideas, and convincing people to trust you.
You’re piggybacking off a platform that already has trust built in.
Amazon is moving something like $1.3 million a minute… over $2 billion a day. The online spending industry is a multi trillion dollar a year market...
People go there with the intention to BUY. Their cards are already saved. They’re already in shopping mode. There’s literally a one-click purchase button.
That is a completely different game than social media, where people are just scrolling for entertainment.
On Amazon, 1,000 views can do what you'd need 100,000 views to do elsewhere. That hasn’t changed.
So instead of focusing on what we lost, we focus on how to make what’s still here work better.
That means:
We get more intentional with product research. We pay attention to higher commission categories (that 3% matters now). We lean into Creator Connections. And we make sure every piece of content is working harder for us and we quit working for free- that means unless you really want the product, or it has a long standing creator connection campaign with selling potential- you charge a fee for content creation or you don't waste your time.
Because one video shouldn’t just earn you 1%. It should be earning across multiple storefronts, on YouTube (with full cart commissions), and through off-site traffic. That’s how we scale this.
And also- I am not going to sleep on Pinterest anymore. You don’t need a following there, you don't have to create videos, you don't even need to have the product and pins can bring in traffic and commissions for months (even years) with very little upkeep. It’s slower, but it stacks over time in a really powerful way and honestly I love the limitless possibilities!
Now—real talk for a second.
If you’re sitting here thinking, “this feels like too much” or “I don’t want to do this anymore”… That’s okay.
There is absolutely an appeal to a 9–5. Clock in, clock out, get your paycheck, don’t think about it after work. I get it. For many years I was very sure I was not interested in self employment. But I also genuinely believe most people (unless you're already rich!) need to figure out how to earn online in some capacity. And I’ve tried a lot of different things. Every time I step away from Amazon because I’m frustrated or it feels slow, I go try something else… And I always end up coming back. Because everything else is harder- but this doesn't HAVE to be YOUR way. If you don't enjoy this at all, then I absolutely encourage you to explore other avenues because there are thousands of other ways to earn online.
Simultaneously if you need a break from all of this- just take one- in fact I encourage it. Just completely log out, don't check anything and then come back in 2 weeks and see that you've continued to make $$. I took basically all of March off of Amazon itself and still brought in over 4 figures. That is the beauty of this business structure and the whole point. We are building something that works while we do not.
But personally, instead of focusing on the small percentage we lost, I am choosing to focus on what I can can control, and right now, I think there is still a ton of opportunity.
Amazon has MILLIONS of products and there are 3/4 of a million creator connection campaigns with 10% + commissions.
And we’re heading into one of the best seasons—spring and summer IE lawn and garden season! Followed by Q4 and Black Friday is truly the ultimate opportunity that will bring in a really nice Christmas bonus if you commit to this.
Reality is- people are spending money with or without your participation. This is the time to get ahead while everyone else is sitting around complaining. Go find the products that are going to make you money over the next 120 days.
And please- if you’re not already using tools like Viral Vue and Oink, start. The code MOBILEMOM10 will save you 10% on both but absolutely for the love of money you should at least be using BOTH free versions.
Proper product research is going to matter more than ever now, and Viral Vue is a huge piece of that.
If you watched the call with Claire, you know I was not subtle about that. I asked in multiple different ways and she made it very clear that Pro Viral Vue is an essential piece of her product research puzzle.
On my end—I’ve already posted Week 12 (product research), but I’m going back in and adding more.
More strategy, more breakdowns, and full extension walkthroughs so you actually know how to use these tools properly.
We’re not slowing down. We’re just getting sharper. So yeah… feel your feelings, have your moment…
And then let’s get back to work.
We’re not done here.
