Week 2 of the Mid-Year Reset is all about leads — and if you caught the call, you noticed we didn't start with "build something." On purpose.
Why leads is Week 2 and not Week 3:
Week 3 is when we go get attention. But attention with nowhere to send it is a wasted moment.
A friend of mine had a reel go viral and her first thought was "I've got nothing to send all these eyes to." So we build the thing first. Then we go get the eyes.
A lead magnet is a taste, not the whole meal
The trap most people fall into: trying to solve the entire problem for free. Give too much and one of two things happens — they get overwhelmed, or you get resentful for handing it all away.
Your lead magnet is ONE micro win. A peek into what you've got.
It's the window into your shop, not the whole shop.
But before you build anything — check alignment
This is the boring, unsexy part, and it's the whole point of this week.
Before you carve out a lead magnet, your offer has to actually match the ideal client you mapped last week.
Because if the offer's off, the lead magnet's off too. And you'll burn hours building a gorgeous freebie that leads to something your people don't even want.
Quick example: You teach French cooking. But the ideal client you actually love serving? Barbecue people. A lead magnet on French appetizers is a waste — the barbecue crowd doesn't care about caviar, they want a killer sauce.
I made this mistake myself... I wasted a lot of time building lead magnets that didn't line up with my offer. Alignment first. Every time.
Once you're aligned, let AI multiply
Your brain has a ceiling ⇢ experience, culture, what you've already seen.
AI doesn't. So use it:
- Give it the END GOAL (that's what lets it actually problem-solve)
- Give it your real constraints — budget, time, capacity. Got $50 to invest? Say so. Hate one-on-ones? Say so. It can't work with what it doesn't know.
- Ask for 10 ideas, then have it pick the 3 with the highest value
I promise one of them will make you go "damn, I'd never have thought of that."
Remember what the lead magnet is FOR
It's an appetizer. The whole job is to make someone think "this person knows their stuff… what else do they have?" — and then make the next step an obvious yes.
A great lead magnet doesn't even have to be something you make.
A 15-minute call is a lead magnet. Attorneys give a free hour and turn it into thousands. What matters is that the next step feels like a no-brainer.
Then drop it in the community: what did AI say about your offer-to-client alignment? Any mismatch catch you off guard?
Stuck? Post it here so everyone learns from the answer. 🌴
(And yes — the Lead Magnet Machine is coming later this week to build the thing for you. But not until the alignment's locked.)
