i was having a hard time getting motivated today. Made a break through (or so I thought) at 2 AM.. Remember kids NO good decisions happen after 2 AM. Thought I found a fix for sometihng niggling at me for the last week and all was going well until I put the fix in a second window and tried to do two things at once... and of course broke both!

Back to the beginning again by 5AM and slept half the day. So getting back into it has been rough so I thought "Hey!! lets do some writing instead of tools".. 🧰 Nice idea right? I start reading my SKool DM's and messaging (more than just a couple today).

Backups fixed? modified? Working better!

Need to check the backup function just to be sure for someone..whoops, folders do not hold on the backup. Fixed this so a backup export doesn't just export a list of files, BUT turns out this was an issue before and I had fixed it by putting in a config file that would put everything back when it imported it so a full list was fine. There WAS a reason for this, but as good as I doxument I don't rememebr why. Og well. If you export ALL of your work or just a book you will see the same organization as in the binder now.

Charts and reports

It was reported that the reader's room was putting code in its output. Yes and no. The code was the SVG rendered charts in the chat response pane not translating well. The LLM's of the AI system like speaking in markdown text, but we edit in html in the editor so we can change text sizes, fonts etc.. Speaking in two languages can sometimes cause weirdness and this is why some other tools do not work well, they try to only use one or the other. It really works better to use both for multiple reasons.

The fix was to translate the SVG to a PNG when it is sent to the binder or editor. This also including layout and putting images in the correct place. Cool two stones with one bird! but this lead e down another rabbit hole that has been frustrating me and another writing tool added a couple features that people are complaining about and this frustrates ME everytime.

Tables....Gods I hate tables

Same issue here as the SVG/PNG problem with markdown/html. I added a tool to create tables in WCP a few weeks back and it works but could still use some tweaks. What it does NOT do is translate well and tables in markdown were not surviving the switch to html. This is one of my frustrations with SKOOL. Tables in markdown stay in markdown and have to be hand spaced manually when I copy and paste it in(sucks). So now tables in the responses from the chat rooms become tables in the editor pane and should survive output as pdf, epub, and word exports. This was not a trivial fix and why you do not see tables in most other writing tools that use Ai help.

Closing the Gaps

My background is really wild and crazy and literally EVERY job I have done in my life in video, printing, teaching, sound recording, coding, graphics, consulting has lead to what I do now and how I put this stuff together so fast. Claude and his buddies just compress the time it takes. I used to write up to 1000 lines of code a day. Now with my able friends help I write 10K-30K lines of code in a day. I don't *just* vibe code this is WHY wordcrafter.pro was written. Simple fixes in claude required requesting the changes and chewing through tokens when a quick find/replace or hand edit would work. Cowork fixes some of this, letting you use yoour favorite text editor, but the conversational tools in the WCP skill rooms don't work as well in Cowork as the do in Chat. So I wrote an AI editor that closed the gap.

My awesome and wonderful wife just walked in and said "Going to the dollar store for bbq sauce is like giving a mouse a cookie, it leads to cereal, and bags, and oh I need this too". This is it exactly what happens. "If you give a Michael a Claude". What I keep doing with all of my additions and plugins are closing gaps I see. I'm tired of paying this subscription or that so I build in something new here. Why Does it cost $29 to get a single report? Why does it cost $49 to create an image that anyone can do with a 5 minute prompt? Why did it take so long for this writing tool to be able to write non fiction? It's easier than fiction and a LOT less work. So I get frustrated and I code something new to close the gap.

I do regular searches and gap analysesesesese ( that word is as hard to get right as worstchesterester sauce). Your requests, what I find that others are doing or that folks are asking for on various social media sites are how I get the ideas. My awesome and wonderful wife Amanda also said this: "You work and think so far out of the box the walls don't exist, most people only see the box and the walls." I never thought of it this way.

And where did this come from? I ran the readers room report on a book I *thought* was done. 3 out of 6 of my readers disagreed and their contributions are really needed. But the report had bad tables, code for the graphs in the text and since it depressed me so much reading the report instead of writing the fixes into the book....I fixed the code and now its time to BBQ the chicken for dinner...

So keep sending me ideas and I'll keep adding, fixing, iterating and yes I'm still writing too.
