How to write DMs for lead's
Most people fail at DMs for one reason:
They try to sell before they understand.
So here’s the simple structure I use — and the exact DM prompt frameworks for different situations.
Every DM falls into ONE of these:
1.Cold DM (they don’t know you)
2.Warm DM (they’ve seen your content)
3.Hot DM (they already showed intent)
1.Cold DM (No Pitch, Zero Pressure)
Hey {{Name}},
Came across your profile while looking into {{specific thing they do / posted about}}.
Quick question — how are you currently handling {{relevant problem related to their niche}}?
Just curious, not selling anything.
-->How to customize it (don’t skip this part)
{{specific thing they do / posted about}}
→ Mention something real: a post, their role, their website, their offer
{{relevant problem}}
→ Something they already deal with (leads, follow-ups, ops, content, etc.)
🎉Example (filled in)
👉🏻Hey Rahul,
Came across your profile while checking out B2B founders posting about outbound sales.
Quick question — how are you currently handling lead follow-ups after the first call?
Just curious, not selling anything.
That’s it.
No CTA. No link. No pressure.
🌟Looking forward to your reply on this questions:-
How much helpful this is ?
Which prompts you use to do outreach?
Any suggestions to add-on?
