National Poetry Month – Day 13
Theme: Say It With Your Whole Chest
Some truths don’t need softening—they need to be said. Not filtered. Not watered down. Not adjusted for comfort. Today is about speaking plainly, standing on your words, and refusing to shrink your voice to make others comfortable.
Prompt 1 – Since We’re Being Honest…
Write a poem about a truth you usually soften. The version you edit, dilute, or hold back to keep the peace.
Prompt 2 – I Said What I Meant, and I Meant What I Said
Write a poem about standing firmly on something you said, believed, or decided. No backtracking. No overexplaining. Just ownership.
Prompt 3 – Try Jesus, Not Me
Write a poem about a boundary you no longer negotiate. The line you’ve drawn and have no intention of moving.
