National Poetry Month – Day 5
Theme: Unspoken Conversations
Not every conversation happens out loud. Some live in our heads, some in our memories, and some in the silence between people. The things we rehearse, the things we understand without saying, and the things that never get said at all can carry just as much weight as spoken words. Today we explore the conversations that existed without sound.
Prompt 1 – Rehearsed Conversations
Write a poem about words you practiced but never said. The version of the conversation that lived in your head but never made it into the room.
Prompt 2 – What’s Understood Doesn’t Need to Be Said
Write a poem about communication without words. A look, a pause, a shift in energy—moments where understanding existed without explanation.
Prompt 3 – The Conversation That Should’ve Happened
Write a poem about words that could have changed something. The apology, the truth, the closure, or the honesty that never came.
