Where do you find it easier to invest: your kids or yourself?
Hi, my thriving friends!
A recent conversation in the community got me thinking…
I’ve been noticing something beautiful:
👉 So many of us are intentionally investing time and energy into helping our kids grow—especially soft skills like emotional intelligence (EQ) and social intelligence (SQ).
That matters.
And it shows how much we care about the kind of humans we’re raising. 🥰
At the same time, it made me pause and reflect…🤔
How do we personally decide where to invest—our kids, ourselves, or both (in different seasons)?
And most importantly, the WHY behind our decision.
So, I asked ChatGPT that question. 😆
❓"Why do moms tend to invest in their kids' personal development but not in themselves?"
Its responses are reflected in the polls below.
Curious, do you agree? Which ones?
Comment not from a place of pressure. Not from a “should.” Just honest reflection.
No right or wrong answers. You're safe here. 🥰
1. IDENTITY: My role is to give. Not to receive.
2. GUILT: If I spend this on myself, I'm taking away from my kids.
3. IMMEDIATE ROI: Investing in kids feel tangible and immediate with better grades & behavior
4. EMOTIONAL AVOIDANCE: I'm facing burnout. | I'm not ready to confront years of overwhelm.
5. PERFECTIONISM: I need to have it together first before I invest in myself.
6. SELF-WORTH GAP: My kids are worth the investment more than me.
7. SOCIAL/CULTURAL CONDITIONING: Put your kids first. Good moms sacrifice.
8. TIMEBLINDNESS: Now is not the right time. I don't have time for that.
