ACE Learning Lab - Admin Certification Prep Overview
ACE Learning Labs - December 05 VIEW RECORDING - 90 mins (No highlights) Meeting Purpose Certification review for the Salesforce Admin certification, covering core Salesforce concepts and exam preparation strategies. Key Takeaways - Salesforce security model is built on profiles (defining object/field access) and sharing rules (controlling record-level access) - Understanding the differences between standard vs custom objects/fields is crucial for admin capabilities - Exam strategy: Eliminate wrong answers, don't make assumptions, and consider scalability when choosing between similar options - Consistent study habits, hands-on practice, and a structured approach to exam preparation are key to success Topics Salesforce User Basics - Users have unique logins based on purchased licenses and assigned profiles - User record contains personal info, security settings, and locale preferences - Locale controls time zone, language, currency, and data formatting for the user - Multi-currency orgs calculate exchange rates relative to company default Profiles and Record Access - Profiles control object/field access, UI elements, and system permissions - Record access depends on ownership and sharing rules (OWD, role hierarchy, sharing rules, manual sharing) - "View All" and "Modify All" permissions override normal sharing restrictions
ACE Learning Lab - Admin Certification Prep Overview
Certification Test Preparation: How to pass every certification exam.
Can you answer all of the questions on a practice exam correctly? Oh no.. don't do that. Remember, the secret to passing your certification exam: Don't Pick the Wrong Answers. How to use a test dump? Use it to develop 3 skills: 1.) Identifying the EXACT requirements of the Question (just the question); Nothing More; Nothing Less 2.) Categorize or Group Answers to help Eliminate INcorrect Variables within the answer and therefore Eliminate Multiple Answers as possibly correct. 3.) Picking the BEST right answer. That means understanding that just because something works, doesn't mean it works best or at scale: the scale of 1 to the scale of 1million transactions worth of effort. What matters most is that you can tell why the wrong answers don't meet the requirements and THEN pick the best of the right answers. What makes an Answer correct? 1.) The words match the words on the screen WITHIN the platform 2.) The effort makes sense 3.) The answer doesn't violate any best practices Does the answer count if you get it partially correct? NO WHY? Because that's how Salesforce tests the 'lesser known' features within the system by making sure you can eliminate the wrong features for that question. Here's the BEST Test Taking Strategy 1.) Read each question and answer thoroughly and eliminate obviously wrong answers 2.) Pick the Best answer 3.) If you're 100% sure (and careful if you are), then mark the question for review: Go with your Gut Learn how to use the Mark for Review: a) quickly identify the topic or "item" you're not sure of b) write it down on the paper or digital notepad provided c) continue to take the test Here's the part that's key: If you continue to take the test, and another question describes that "thing" you have marked for review (and you notice it), then take a quick peek at your notepad and see if the question and answers "teach you anything" that would help you with the question you have marked for review. IF SO, then go and check out the question you had marked for review to determine if any new information would help you decide on the best right answer. If it does, Adjust your answer or not, and remove the Mark for review selection and MOVE ON to the next question in the exam.
