Relapses suck. We all know this.
What is interesting is how our minds will MINIMIZE the consequences of a relapse before it happens.
But right after the relapse it is almost as if we "snap back" to reality and recognize the damage that has been done.
And amidst that damage, which might look like shame, guilt, low energy, headaches, internal weakness, etc, it can be very hard to see anything productive to salvage from that state.
Now I can say this.
I have not had a relapse to porn and masturbation since September 7, 2022.
But the things that led that to become the last date I ever relapsed were actually the relapses themselves.
And the reason for that is that relapses hold SO MUCH INFORMATION in them.
We all know these things.
We want to quit.
We know the damages.
We know the benefits.
Most of us know this by HEART!
But if you logically and emotionally know this, yet you still relapse, then there are details in that fact that need to be, call it, researched.
I have always been big on writing, so what I did back then was to literally dissect the relapse as if it was surgery.
Because once you break it all down, you can clearly see the points that cause you to fall back. And that is exactly where you need to get on the offensive.
When you do this with every relapse, and with every urge, eventually you collect so much data and information that the truth becomes undeniable.
You see the patterns.
You see the triggers.
You see the weak points.
You see the lies of the addicted mind
And when you start correcting the things that support the addictive behavior one by one, before you know it you reach a state where healing no longer feels like an uphill battle anymore.
So if you had a relapse recently, do this process!
