LinkedIn Connection Confessions: What I Learned the Hard Way
I've been diving deep into the world of LinkedIn connections, and let me tell you, I made some rookie mistakes. But hey, that's how we learn, right?
I used to think blasting out connection requests was the way to go. Turns out, there's a bit more to it than that. Here's what I discovered:
1.Your weekly connection request limit? It's not a fixed number. It actually ranges from 100-200, and it's heavily influenced by your Social Selling Index (SSI) score. (You can find that in Sales Navigator!)
2. Quality over quantity is key. Just because you can send out a ton of requests doesn't mean you should. I've learned to be way more thoughtful about who I connect with, focusing on mutual benefit.
3.Don't let those ignored requests pile up. Every four weeks, I'm now going through and withdrawing any pending requests. It keeps things clean and avoids getting flagged by LinkedIn.
4. First impressions matter a lot. When deciding whether to accept a request, I've realized these things stand out: A clear, professional headshot. A title that clearly explains how you can help me. The number of mutual connections. A thoughtful note (but only if it's truly relevant!).
5. Notes, use them wisely. If you have nothing special to say, do not use the note feature.
Now, here's where I'm still scratching my head: I'm trying to figure out how to effectively connect with professionals like real estate agents and dental clinic owners.
If you have any insights on how to make those connections meaningful, please share in the comments!
Let's learn and grow together.
