(Fasting & Prayer Day 2) I Will Not Hold Onto Unforgiveness
Day 2 of the fasting and prayer devotional focuses on cleansing ourselves. We are asked to declare these truths over our lives: • I will not continue to live in sin. (1 John 3:6; 5:18) • I will not make poor choices. (1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:18) • I will not hold on to any unforgiveness. (Matthew 6:14; Mark 11:26) • I will not speak about my own inability, failure, or limitations. (Philippians 4:13; Matthew 19:26; Luke 6:45) The one that stood out to me the most is number three. There have been times when I didn’t even realize I was holding onto unforgiveness toward someone. I thought I was just frustrated—but frustration that goes unaddressed can quietly turn into unforgiveness. God brought it to my attention that I was harboring a grudge, and within a couple of weeks, the situation began to work itself out. Something as simple as miscommunication or misunderstanding can create the greatest distance between people. Yet Jesus forgave those who crucified Him while He was still hanging on the cross. Today, I will not hold onto unforgiveness. I choose to forgive.
