There’s a moment in Matthew 17 that should challenge every believer. A desperate father brought his son to the disciples, but they couldn’t help him. Then Jesus stepped in and said, “Bring him here to Me.”
The boy was set free.
In this devotional video, Esther uses that moment to ask an important question about the Gospel we carry. When hurting, broken, or desperate people cross our paths, do we have something to give them?
Those same disciples would later look very different. After being filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter could stand in front of a man who had been crippled for decades and say, “What I do have I give to you.” The disciples who once couldn’t help became people who turned the world upside down.
The Gospel was never intended to be something we only explain. Paul said it came “not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit.”
Here’s something to do after THIS TEACHING: read Matthew 9:35-38 and pray specifically for the people God has already placed around you. Ask Him to give you His compassion for them, and then ask Him to show you where you can become a laborer instead of simply someone who sees the need. The harvest is already there. We want to be people who are ready when God puts someone in front of us.
