For the Children of Grace 4 Africa Child Care The sun woke up and stretched its rays, And smiled upon a brand-new day. The birds began to sing a tune, While monkeys danced beneath the moon! A little goat put on a hat, And tried to teach a dog to chat. The dog said, “Woof!” The goat said, “Baa!” They laughed so hard they woke Grandma! An elephant came stomping through, With one red sock and one bright blue. He tried to dance, he tried to spin, But tripped and landed on his chin! The children laughed and clapped along, And filled the morning with a song. They jumped so high, they touched the sky, And waved to clouds as they sailed by. One little child said, “Watch me fly!” And leaped beneath the bright blue sky. Another shouted, “I can too!” And landed in a puddle SPLASH! KER-POO! They raced the wind, they chased the sun, They showed the world how joy is done. With muddy toes and happy feet, They made the whole wide world their street. And when the stars came out to play, They tucked their giggles all away. But one small laugh escaped the night, And sent the moon into delight. For every child, both near and far, Is brighter than the brightest star. And every dream, however small, Deserves a chance to grow up tall. So laugh out loud and dance all day, Let nothing steal your joy away. The world is big, but here's what's true It needs the special light of YOU! ❤️ By Jason Strickland The Art of Poetry Community
