@James Powell Hey James, I'm honored my comment made it into a video, lol. Since I come more from psychology and history rather than religious studies, I tend to look at this stuff as real in the context of definitely being an internal event. (Which is considered a behavioral event in newer schools of behavioral science, like contextual behavioral science.) Also, I think that there was another member of the Esalen crew I kind-of wish was still alive when Terrance McKenna rolled around. Fritz Perls. Regardless of the cosmological or soteriological nature of the internal event, I think the most interesting thing is to run a Fritz Perls style Gestalt hot seat, and have them try and project whatever it is into a chair. And then sit in the chair and act it out. We could have had video of Terrance McKenna channeling machine elves in the Gestalt chair. Interestingly, Fritz Perls had some exposure to Zen Buddhism and emphasized being in the here and now. It's like a quick and dirty Vajra ritual, except instead of a deity, you're bringing something already inside of you into the "here and now" while in a physical seat, for everyone to see. (Which is possibly closer to how I'd imagine the Flower Sermon Buddha might have unceremoniously approached oracle rituals.)
