TOO BIG - TOO SOON ...
One of the biggest mistakes singers make is singing repertoire that is too difficult too early. I understand why this happens. Beautiful opera arias are inspiring Powerful voices are inspiring. And many singers want to experience that emotional intensity immediately. But the voice develops step by step. And when the technical foundation is still unstable, difficult repertoire often creates: pressure, fatigue, instability, and artificial sound production. That is exactly why the CLASSICAL SINGING MASTERCLASS follows a very structured progression. In Year 1, we focuse heavily on: coordination, body organization, breath support, resonance, and vocal balance. Only later do we gradually move into larger and more demanding repertoire. In the video clip I'm sharing today from the Masterclass Tips & Tricks section, I speak with Lidia exactly about this topic - and about why singers often try repertoire that the voice is not technically ready for yet. Real vocal freedom cannot be rushed. It has to be built. 🎓 Inside the Classical Singing Masterclass, you can follow this complete process step by step - and apply the same principles to your own voice development. I have seen that all the time in the conservatoire (in Tbilisi). Some managed, won competitions, started very early carreers. The problems occur later. When the natural talent, young age, beauty of a voice are not anymore enough, when pressure, lots of singing, age, pregnancy, illness, etc. appear, and that is life, those things will sooner or later appear... then there must be a fundament technically, a kind of knowledge and nature, talent and instinct might fail, might not be sufficient. But for developing a strong basis, there has to be time. Singing a Violetta in the second year at the conservatoire will not leave space for that.
