Can Weight Loss Change The Singing Voice?
The pressure regarding physical appearance in opera has changed enormously over the last decades. Today, singers are often judged not only by the voice - but also by the body. Some singers are told directly to lose weight. Others experience it indirectly through casting decisions, stage expectations or agency pressure. And this raises a very important question: Can major weight loss actually affect a singer's technique and voice? In my experience: yes. And I believe this topic is discussed far too rarely and far too superficially. Because the body is not separate from the instrument. The body IS the instrument. WHAT DO YOU THINK? I've just uploaded a long new lecture about this topic inside PRO: 🎓 BECOME THE ARTIST / PRO CAN WEIGHT LOSS DAMAGE A SINGER'S VOICE? 🔗 Ready To Go Deeper? https://www.skool.com/evateachingopera-free-7168/plans

Can Weight Loss Change The Singing Voice?
Pushing Through Is Not Always Strength
One of the most dangerous things singers can do is constantly trying to "push through" vocal fatigue. Many singers believe that continuing to force the voice is a sign of discipline or strength. But very often, the opposite is true. The voice becoming tired quickly is not something singers should simply ignore. Because sometimes the real problem is not lack of talent or lack of motivation - but overload, compensation, muscular imbalance, or inefficient vocal coordination. One of the biggest problems is that many singers start adapting to the tension without realizing it. And over time, the entire system can become increasingly overloaded. That is exactly why understanding vocal health is so important. 🎓 Inside VOICE PROBLEMS & HEALTH in PRO, I've recently uploaded several new lectures about muscular dysphonia, vocal fatigue, overload patterns and early warning signs singers should never ignore. You'll also find a detailed Self Assessment Test for Muscular Dysphonia. 🔗 Ready To Go Deeper? https://www.skool.com/evateachingopera-free-7168/plans

TOO BIG - TOO SOON ...
One of the biggest mistakes singers make is singing repertoire that is too difficult too early. I understand why this happens. Beautiful opera arias are inspiring Powerful voices are inspiring. And many singers want to experience that emotional intensity immediately. But the voice develops step by step. And when the technical foundation is still unstable, difficult repertoire often creates: pressure, fatigue, instability, and artificial sound production. That is exactly why the CLASSICAL SINGING MASTERCLASS follows a very structured progression. In Year 1, we focuse heavily on: coordination, body organization, breath support, resonance, and vocal balance. Only later do we gradually move into larger and more demanding repertoire. In the video clip I'm sharing today from the Masterclass Tips & Tricks section, I speak with Lidia exactly about this topic - and about why singers often try repertoire that the voice is not technically ready for yet. Real vocal freedom cannot be rushed. It has to be built. 🎓 Inside the Classical Singing Masterclass, you can follow this complete process step by step - and apply the same principles to your own voice development. Some Days It Worked...
One of the most frustrating experiences for singers is inconsistency. Some days the voice feels open, easy and free. And the next day, it suddenly feels difficult again. That was one of the biggest challenges Anatol faced during parts of his training. What makes this especially difficult psychologically is that singers often interpret inconsistency as failure. But very often, inconsistency is actually part of the learning process itself. The body is reorganizing. Old patterns are disappearing. New coordinations are still unstable. And during this phase, singers can temporarily feel: better one day, worse the next, more open, more blocked, more free, more effortful. This is completely normal in real vocal development. In Year 2 of the Classical Singing Masterclass, we worked intensely on helping Anatol build more consistency and reliability in his coordination. And one of the most important lessons singers can learn is this: Progress is rarely linear. Very often, the voice develops in waves. 🎓 Inside the Classical Singing Masterclass, you can follow Anatol's complete transformation journey step by step — and apply the same principles to transform your own voice.
