How much protein do vegans really need?
I think it comes down to what are your goals, but also, what are you currently eating? A lot of vegans are eating things like beans, nuts, peanut butter, oats, whole grains, and they're saying this is how I get my protein on a vegan diet. And the detail we should pay attention to is, those foods listed above are comprised of more than just protein. When you get nuts, you're getting more fat than protein. When you're eating beans, you're getting more carbs than protein. And so, you're setting yourself up for a not-a-very-high-protein diet. So, how much protein do you need? I still believe it depends on your goals. If you're just trying to live to a ripe old age, 50 grams of protein a day is probably great for most. But if you're really trying to build muscle, if you want to grow in the gym, if you want to start hitting PRs, if you want to stop being skinny fat, I stick with the tried-and-true 0.8 to 1 gram per pound of body weight per day. It seems to be working really well. I've done it with myself, with other pro-level vegan bodybuilders, and over 500 clients. If someone you know haven’t yet seen my High-Protein Vegan Recipes book, grab it here: https://vegansquadcoaching.com/cookbook I’d love to know what your favorite source of protein is currently!

I honestly don't focus on a number. I focus on getting as many amino acids as I can. Eat the rainbow. Enjoy your legumes. I eat plenty of seeds, minimal nuts. Funny before becoming vegan I focused on 1 gram per pound and always made sure I was getting a minimum of 150g per day. Our bodies just don't need that. Now I am fueled by carbohydrates in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE!!!!

@Miriam Schiro I bet some days I consume over 400g of carbs. I personally don't worry about any numbers. I eat the rainbow. I eat a ton of fruit. And I feel great. The only thing I watch is my fat intake.

Dining Out Vegan and Signs from Above.
Happy Father's Day. We just celebrated at Longhorn Steakhouse. Of course I ordered vegan (steamed asparagus, a plain baked potato, seasoned rice, and a strawberry pecan salad w/o feta). But what was interesting to me was the bill, $119.70. Out of curiosity, I asked what verse that would be in Psalms, and I think it was a sign. Psalms 119:70, "Their heart is as fat as grease, but I delight in thy law." My parents ordered steak and ribs (They're not vegan). I love them dearly, but their food choices make me sad, and their hearts are probably plaqued because of it. I just have to continue to set the example and continue hoping for a better world. Blessings to all ❤️ 🌿

I love that you took the total to the Bible. Suxh a great verse anout protecting our hearts. I love your perspective on continuing to lead by example. ❤️ It can be hard watching the people we love make choices we wouldn't make ourselves, but at the end of the day, all we can do is plant seeds, show love, and live our values. Wishing you and your family many more Father's Days together. 🌱
