Use This Prompt to Start Any Project
Before you write a single line of code or set up any tools, paste this into Claude, ChatGPT, or whatever AI you're using. It works for apps, automations, websites, anything. The Prompt: (feel free to copy paste this) I want to build [describe what you want: an app / a website / an automation / a tool]. Here's what it does: [describe the core thing it does in plain language] The people who would use this are: [describe who they are] The problem it solves for them is: [describe the pain point] Before we start building anything, I need your help thinking this through. Ask me questions (5-10 depending on how clear we are) one at a time to help me clarify: - What makes this different from what already exists - What the simplest version looks like that I could test with real people - How someone would find out about this and why they'd try it - What could go wrong or what I might be overlooking After we've gone through your questions, write a complete project brief that captures everything we discussed. Include: what we're building, who it's for, what problem it solves, what the first version includes (and what it doesn't), and how we'll know if it's working. That document becomes our blueprint. Everything we build starts from there. Why this works: Most people open Claude and type "build me an app that does X" and get garbage. This prompt forces the AI to interview you first. By the time you have the project brief, you've thought through things most people skip entirely. And that document becomes the foundation for everything: your CLAUDE.md, your pitch, your landing page, your feature list. Try it right now. The longer you wait to begin, the longer it'll take to succeed. What ideas are you trying this out on?
