Suggestions needed!
What would you like to see within this community? We want to make it as valuable as possible. Please leave your suggestions in the comments below. Ideas to expand upon are : video courses, live sessions with guest artists, study groups. Many people have mentioned stage fright etc. So perhaps a course for that is needed! Looking forward to your suggestions ⭐

I have not contributed to this discussion, as I need some time to work out technical issues on my own. However, the discussion is exciting and I feel very much part of it, even though I do not know right now how I can make best use of the community. I expect that to change, once I start playing music.
Problems?
What problems are you having in your playing at the moment ? Could be a passage that isn’t coming together. An aspect of technique that could be improved. Not practicing efficiently. Doubting your ability to improve. Going in circles and not learning something fully before moving on. Please comment below and we will do our best to help with advice ⭐️

I find that I do not know enough to solve the problems I am having. I am therefore going back and learning microtechnique consistently. This learning is giving me a lot of things to look at when something goes wrong, and a much larger palette for solving problems. And the direction that this going in, is that there are actually only a small number of microtechniques that I need to watch very carefully: - make sure you always have a finger that guides you to the next note or chord (it is called "eje"= pivot in Spanish). If moving to a new position, look for the finger that can stay on its string. If moving vertically, look for a pivot finger that stays on the same string to get another finger to the new string. - Think about how to let wrist rotation do much of the work of moving across strings. - Anchor the right hand on the 5th (or whatever convenient bass) string. I am sure I will add things as I continue learning. I am happy to have input. I am only playing exercises now. I play an occasional piece of music as a reality check. I clearly see improvement, but I also see that not all the things I have learned are automatic yet. And under time pressure, I fail to apply what I know. @Marc Adler had already predicted that applying knowledge of microtechnique to actual playing would take effort and definitely not be automatic. He is right.

Just discovered that I am also lifting fingers too early, thereby ruining the legato continuity of the line and the guide fingers that I need later. @David Norton had told me that I do this, but I am only now realizing it. I am still working on technique.
Sheet or Digital Music Scores?
Do you prefer the traditional method with sheet music or are you more modern with digital music and a reading app?

@Blaise Laflamme Yes, of course. The flat packs solve the problem that I have huge quantities of music in ring binders with each page (two pages, front and back) in a separate plastic document holder. Those ring binders take up some 3.5 meters of shelf space. In flat packs, they would take up less than 50 cm. I prefer to play from ring binders. But I do not need 500 pages of JK Mertz or the complete solo guitar output of AJ Weidt in a ring binder. However, I do not have time right now start making flat packs out of everything. By the way, once you have a square stack of paper, making the flat pack takes about 15 seconds (it is called fan binding). Then you put it under a brick and let the glue dry for about 4 hours.

@Blaise Laflamme True. But it is important to see the full works of Mertz from time to time, to see what is there. For instance, a person might miss Opus 2 or Opus 4 or Opus 5.
FarPlay
Just tried out FarPlay for guitar trio , works quite well! lat me know how you get on with it?

@Malcolm Lane I just did exactly that. I connected my wife's office (upstairs and 25 meters away) with an Ethernet cable to the router in my office. I took the Ethernet cable through the hole in the outside wall where the air conditioner pipes go out to the air conditioner (in Israel, all air conditioners are outside; I have never seen such an air conditioner anywhere else, but I am sure you can either use an existing hole in the outer wall or make a new one — very small, just big enough for the plug of the Ethernet cable). Then I took the Ethernet cable all the way around the house and up one floor to her office and went in through the window. As soon as my contractor returns, I will make a small hole for the Ethernet cable so that we will not have to go through the window. The Ethernet cable must be protected from the sun by covering it with a conduit for outside use. I guess that in England you have less problems with sunlight than we do here, but the Ethernet Class 6 cable is definitely not suitable for outside use. The entire project cost me less than 400 euros. Not cheap, but peace in the home is worth 400 Euros.

@Malcolm Lane Does the person you are addressing know that this is directed to them?
How often do you change your guitar strings?
I don't want to start a debate on the quality or the longevity of strings 😅, just want to know what your habit is. Answer the poll!

@Blaise Laflamme Sound, touch, and feel are not perfect after a year, even with Aquila strings. I am looking for the hour-and-a-half to change strings on three guitars.

@Blaise Laflamme Yes, very smart. But that requires scheduling 3 string changing sessions. How did you know that it takes 20 minutes? I did an extended statistical study with 4 guitars and using the MusicNomad manual string roller (it is very fast). It takes 6 minutes to unwind and remove all 6 strings and 14 minutes to put on the new strings and bring them up to approximate pitch. String cutting is not allowed in this test.

Played a little guitar in college (mathematics and chemistry), gave it up for seminary, became technical writer, started playing seriously at age 60.
