Impossible to leave a review on a book
Hi, I wanted to post the review for an assignment which deadline was today 29th, but when clicking on the button to write the review, I got this message from Amazon: "We apologize but Amazon is not accepting reviews on this product from this account. For more information or to contact us, please see our community guidelines." It is a KU assignment, I read the book completely, have it on my paid KU membership since early June. A few questions: - is it a sign I should be concerned of (eg: my account could be flagged somehow), or just the "normal evolution" in the sense that the more reviews I give, the more often it may occur (unless the pool of publishers using those review platforms expands much faster than my review pace...) - I have seen that book on other review platforms, so maybe it is a book from an author who has already reviewed one of my book, hence Amazon seeing it as a potential "swap" hence preventing me from leaving a review ? - should I just "delete/cancel" this assignment from BookVillage interface ? - do other publishers also get this message from time to time ? Thanks for any feedback ! Yannick

Hi @Adriano Ferrigno Thanks a lot for your detailed answer, as usual, really appreciate your expertise and transparency 😁 Adding more details & context, in case that helps better understand this specific case or any other ! 1/ Actually I don't think I had posted the review on Amazon. According to my Excel tracker, I did not. It's always possible I 'forgot' to update the tracker after doing it on Amazon... Yet I am like 80% sure I did not ! 2/ Regarding that book, the last 2 reviews visible on Amazon seem to be June 22 and June 17. At least for me. 3/ As a precaution, I had already drastically reduced the reviews I give: 15 in May and 16 in June, kind of every 2 days (before that, I was well over 40 tbh...) Now I just make sure never to have 2 reviews "waiting to be confirmed" at the same time. Basically I post the next review only after I have received the confirmation email from the previous one (usually under 5 minutes, or 3 days, but nothing in between). And with a delay 12-36 hours between both, it depends. 4/ My activities from last 10 days: - 18/06, KU, confirmation email received in 5 minutes, YES 'Verified Purchase' status - 21/06, KU, confirmation email received in 5 minutes, NO 'Verified Purchase' status - 22/06, VP0.99, confirmation email received in 5 minutes, YES 'Verified Purchase' status - 24/06, KU, confirmation email received in 5 minutes, NO 'Verified Purchase' status - 26/06, KU, confirmation email received in 3 days, NO 'Verified Purchase' status - 27/06, VP0.99, confirmation email received in 5 minutes, YES 'Verified Purchase' status - 29/06, KU, impossible to post the review !!!! - 29/06, KU, waiting for email (expected 3 days) 5/ What I noticed different from before: with KU, I used to get the 'Verified Purchase' label around 80%, but now it's rather the opposite, only 20% ! Eg: I got it for that book on the 18/06, but not for the books on 21, 24, 26. Let's see on July 1st the result for that book reviewed yesterday. I still haven't figured out why some get the VP tag, while others don't, and why it changed.

Quick edit about the book reviewed on 29th June : received exactly 3 days after and with a "Verified Purchase" badge. Happy for the publisher 😁
🏆 BookVillage Contest — We Have a Winner
I’ve decided that in this case we will have two winners. The mentorship call goes to @Laura Diaz and @Yannick Di Mondo Both of them have been supporting BookVillage since the very beginning and have publicly shared their experience with the platform multiple times. I read many other comments and posts that were honestly beautiful and very thoughtful. Unfortunately, in a contest you still have to choose, and this time I wanted to reward two people who have supported BookVillage publicly more than once. Laura and Yannick, write in the comments what topics you would like to focus on during your mentorship session. Then contact me at [email protected] so we can arrange when to schedule the calls. If you don’t have a specific topic in mind, don’t worry. I’ll guide you. During the call we’ll look at your KDP business together, understand what the main problems are, and figure out how to solve them!

Hi @Adriano Ferrigno here’s what I’d love to chat about during our call 🙂 Tbh, I don't really really see myself as a "traditional" KDP publisher. I'm more a running coach who writes about what I genuinely know: running, marathon prep, mindset, etc. I’ve actually never done any proper niche research, so my whole approach has been based more on experience and instinct than on classic KDP validation. I know that gives me some credibility, but I’m still not sure whether this is a niche that can really be profitable on its own, as a standalone income stream, if I keep building a catalog around it over time. So I’d really love your honest take on that ! And of course, I’m totally open to other topics too if you think something else would be more useful. I’m sure the conversation will naturally go in a few different directions, and I’m very happy with that as well. I will write to the mailbox provided above, tx !

My experience with BookVillage after 6 months
Hi Adriano, I know you asked for a short message, but after about 7 months in the publishing space, I realized it was actually a good opportunity to step back and reflect a bit 😁 I joined BV in October 2025. I think I was among the first 100 users, it was totally free as I recall. Then I took the yearly membership, around early January (180$ a year). I am adding 4 graphs that I use in my own Google Sheets dashboard, hopefully it gives a good overview and helps ! 1/ Graph 1 = number of books I published Just for context to understand the other graphs, 1st one in October 2025, now at 6 books since mid-March. 2/ Graph 2 = BookVillage progression 39 BV reviews received in total, for 64 given. The dashboard says 37, I remember excluding 2 people from the ARC list, so mayb e that explains the difference. Or I just have wrong data in my google sheet ! The trend is not linear, but the last 2 months are clearly the strongest. Also, that weak 1-review month should not be overinterpreted: in Oct/Nov, BV was still very new to me, so I did not yet know if I could fully trust it, and I was not putting much effort into it. Then I changed my mind: they are definitely to be trusted 👍 3/ Graph 3 = review platform distribution Obviously, I’m hiding the other platform names because this post is just about BV. The main thing to notice is that the BV share is growing, and I’m quite certain it will keep growing over the next 6 months! It will probably reach 40% at some point. I know Adriano is a strong advocate of using only one platform. Personally, I still prefer to spread the risk across several platforms and adjust the velocity based on my own criteria, what I observe from their behaviour, my own situation, etc. 4/ Graph 4 = cost per review Eventually the cost is really cheap, around 2-3$. Not the cheapest actually if you compare wioth some others. BUT I don't think this is the correct parameter to optimize for, tbh. And yes, there is a peak at around $20/review for November. As explained above, it is simply because I got only 1 review that month.

I need your help
I’d like to ask for your help on something important. Some of you are active in this community: https://www.skool.com/self-publishing-entrepreneurs-9850/my-honest-opinion-on-bookvillage-after-25-months?p=2944eb1d The user who wrote that comment was banned from BookVillage after being repeatedly warned about unsafe Amazon reviewer accounts. He continued using them until his reviews were removed, and is now sharing misleading information about the platform. I’ve already replied there to clarify the situation. If you have direct experience with BookVillage, I’d appreciate it if you could share your honest opinion under that post, so that anyone reading can get a more accurate and balanced view. These kinds of situations can impact how new users perceive the platform, especially when the claims being made don’t reflect how the system actually works. One important clarification: the issue was entirely related to the reviews he was posting, not the ones he received, which were completely fine. Thanks to everyone who decides to step in.

hi 👋 Just commented on that post as well. I really hope there will be more and more GOOD actors joining the platform, as currently it is being limited by the number of books available.
Beta testing service coming soon!
Guys, most likely within the next 48 hours I will announce the only practical solution to delegate your assignments so you can receive very high-quality reviews on BookVillage, saving valuable time and still at relatively low costs. Access to the beta test will be offered at a particularly discounted price and will be available only to 10 of you for now. This way we can understand whether you like it. As for whether it works well, we have no doubts. The goal is simply to see if it’s something we can offer publicly.

Maybe it’s just me but actually I like reviewing other books. Gave me a lot of ideas about the content, the marketing, etc. also discovered many topics I wouldn’t have read otherwise.
