What’s one thing you know you should be doing better for your dog… but aren’t?
I’ll go first. I don’t brush her teeth. And I tell people all day long this is a good thing to do. And it’s starting to become obvious. The tartar is there, the breath too. Makes me feel like such a terrible owner sometimes 🫣

I am also guilty about the brushing the dogs teeth🫣

@Amy Gallagher i think it will be great! Most people are part of this club after all😅🙈
Who was your childhood dog?
I expect most of us had a childhood dog. If you're like me, this dog was - and forever will be - THE dog. The childhood dog, the special one you remember as your first. First real connection with another living being other than family & friends. First lessons in how to share in a responsibility (feed/walk/pick up poop). First loss. My childhood dog was called Sally Ann. Just Sally for short. She was a Shelty, one of the 'blue' varieties. Short but fast. Being a Shelty, Sally would 'herd' us kids as we ran around the back yard, but she never hurt us. It was about the chase for her. She was also rock solid in being there for me. I didn't have many friends. I don't have many 'moment' memories because I was so young, but the few I have are so visual. I remember I would get on my back, and work on fixing her belly like she was a car. She'd just stand there, patiently. Her favorite thing was the beach, we found out later. We lived in North Dakota, so by 'beach' I mean lake with tiny waves. The way she would attack those waves with her snappy jaws... she just had the biggest smile on her face. When she passed, I remember the phone call I got during class. I was in high school, and for some reason my parents thought I should know right then and there. I was confused, I didn't realize that she was so unwell, and I was so caught up in my teenage angst I lost out on those last months with her. We had her cremated. We'd always meant to bring her back to those lakes, to her happiest moments. But time passed, we had moved away, and I don't think we ever did that. And then...she just became a lovely memory. Her final lesson being that if we let other species into our lives, they can bring tremendous joy. Sally Anne. The Special One. Who was YOUR first dog, your Special one? (pictures would be amazing)

My childhood dog was the most empathetic dog I had ever known. I used to suffer from social anxiety and was a nervous girl from past trauma, and my dog understood it. It was so special to me, he was the only one who knew at the time. He would just sit with me for hours if he felt that I wasn't doing well mentally; he was just always there for me. I don't even know how to explain it. 😅 And his favorite thing was car rides, he loved sitting in the car with the window open. 😊 We lost him when he was 16 (almost 17). We had to put him to sleep because he started to really suffer, and life was too much for him. The second dog I lost was my own dog, and I didn't even really get to know her. She died as a puppy, probably from a heart attack, but she was so smart and happy, she was perfect. She was the first dog I owned. I got her and her sibling from a house with six dogs, and they couldn't take care of another two. I will always remember how he was looking for his sister and didn't realize what had happened and where is she after she passed away.

@Paul Ramos you said it correctly! Aminals always amaze me with their ability to feel stuff and connections to a deeper level. And of course, My childhood dog name was boone, it is a weird name that my mum gave to her last 5 dogs😅 she had a really hard time letting go from that name. He is the older one the poodle. And the puppy I lost was called lattè and she is the one that looks like a stuffed toy.
