Chair Restraint Bars
With restraint bars in the news recently, I was thinking about which chairs at Mammoth are still without them and all I can come up with is 25. Are there any others? Going through the list in my head, I can't think of another chair. The doubles (12, 13. 14) all have them. I haven't been on 22 for a while so I can't remember but I'm inclined to think it has them. Over at June, J1 has a restraint that folds down from the center post. Maybe 25 is the only one? If I'm riding with my daughter I'll always lower the bar. When I'm riding solo, I tend to leave it up. - just realized the first photo in the article below shows 14 from back in 2011, without bars. I’ll have to check the next time I’m up to see if they added them. I know 12 & 13 have them for sure https://snowbrains.com/new-data-reveals-nearly-1-in-4-u-s-chairlifts-lack-restraint-bars/

the safety bar on 23 has been used by me! I also like the footrest on Chair 2, 3 when its really windy, the new chairs don't hold your skis in the wind
Mammoth by the Numbers
Was on the chair this weekend listening to a couple guys talk about trying to ski the mountain by taking the chairs in sequence. I was looking at the map and... 1 to 2, easy 2 to 3, easy 3 to 4, tricky, probably easier on skis than a snowboard as long as you stay high enough to get to Solitude, 4 to 5, easy 5 to 6, seems easy enough crossing over to 3 6 to 7, nope 7 to 8, probably doable though you'd probably end up walking the last 50-100 yards 8 to 9, easy 9 to 10, doable 10 to 11, nope 11 to 12, easy 12 to 13, easy 13 to 14, easy 14 to 15, maybe on skis, but it would be a constant high traverse from Scotty's to Dry Creek that I'm going to say no 15 to 16, easy 16 to 17, easy 17 to 20, easy, but we have to assume 20 is running 20 to 21, easy 21 to 22, doable 22 to 23, nope. 23 to 25, thinking no, but if you could traverse from Cornice to Dave's and get to Goldhill, maybe, but again, a gnarly traverse. Seems mostly doable but there's some I just can't see the connection unless you're a superhero. Did I miss anything?

I have tried to do it in order as much as possible in a single day starting at Chair 15. I usually get through chair 14 by lunch. I ski which makes the miles easier to do. The 23-25 traverse is long but very doable. You need a day with no lines and the desire to ski a lot of miles. According to Strava I did 37 miles the last time I tried it. That included lift rides. Have fun, it's an interesting way to explore the whole mountain! Snow is on the way!
Mountain Rangers?
I'm considering signing my daughter up for the Mountain Ranger program. Has anyone had a kid in the program? Pros and cons? Thanks for any info! https://www.mammothmountain.com/discover-mammoth/camps-teams/multi-day-clinics/mountain-rangers#startDate=01-11-2026

My son did Chargers for two seasons and my daughter did Chargers for one season and the Big Mountain team for one season. It was a lot of driving but an amazing experience for them both. The coaching is top notch and it's a great environment.
