Day 25 of 30 God Challenge: Red Letter Teachings
Matthew 6:19-24 talks about stuff… not the stuff that is used daily but the stored stuff. vs 22-23 are key here… He isn’t literally talking about unhealthy eyes. Back in the day a healthy eye was speaking about generosity. Giving of your resources and stuff is good for the whole body. You aren’t putting trust in your stuff when you are generous with it. You aren’t putting trust putting your trust in the One it was provided by. That He will continue to bless you bc you are blessing others. Yesterday we talked about Him providing our daily bread… our needs for the day. He will do no different for those material things. How do you view your possessions? Are they yours that you worked hard for? Or are they Gods and you are going to be a steward of them? Picture from our last “Singles Serve the City” event. Day 21 of 30 God Challenge: Red Letter Teachings
Matthew 5:21-26... "Murder begins in the heart" this is how the chapter is titled in my bible. The 10 commandments gives us the law "Thou shall not murder" but Jesus tell us at the sermon on the mount that unforgiveness and anger toward someone is also sin and you will be judged for that also.. Its because what you are keeping in your heart is creating a wedge between you an God. That hurt and anger is not a reflecting of God's love and commandment of forgiving someone 70x7 times. Is there hurt, anger or unforgiveness that you are holding onto in your heart? Is there someone that popped in your mind that you haven't thought about in quite some time?? Bring that person to God. Ask Him to create an opportunity for reconciliation to happen.

Day 16 of 30 of our God challenge and Red Letter Teachings
John 10: 7-16 Jesus was known for the way he taught. He was a true teacher in the way he was able to tell stories and get His point across using metaphors and illustrations that made sense to them. What do you see in the picture? A black dot, right? Thats the usual answer, unless you have maybe heard this illustration before then you would know to say "white background" or "white paper" All too often, we focus on the dark stuff, the bold stuff, the stuff in our life that is stressful or that isn't going our way.. But Jesus says in verse "I know them and they know me...I lay down My life for them." Do you know Jesus enough.. have a strong enough relationship with Him that you know there is so much more good in your life than the black dot and it's all bc He loves you that He died for you so that you may "HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY." (His words, not mine)

Day 14 of 30 God Challenge: Red Letter Teachings
Matthew 11:25 Jesus says that God has hidden these things from the wise but revealed them to the infants. His desire is that we, as infants, continue to to depend on Him for our wisdom. When we have a veil over our hearts, such as leaning on our own understanding and knowledge, we keep ourselves from being able to receive wisdom from God. Do you remember the desire you had when you first accepted Christ as your Savior? That need and desire to want more of Him... That feeling that you couldn't do life without Him. Have you lost that feeling? Has is diminished? Have you started making decisions for yourself without consulting God and waiting for His answer?

I was doing that for a long time not consulting God before I made decisions and wowee did I learn some uncomfortable and painful lessons! I consider myself a baby Christian restablishing my relationship with God. I look back at when I was a kid and teenager, I was very close to God until 16 then completely ran the other way and was lost. There were periods in there I came back to him but then was surrounding myself with people unequally yoked in friendships and romantic relationships and I was easily influenced by trying to fit in. The last 7 months growing closer to God, owning my mistakes and choices I have been hearing him clearly like I did when I was younger. My God given gift of intuition is back and I can see and hear things again from him guiding my path into places and meeting people I am supposed to meet. I feel like this past week some chains were broken that had been holding me for a long time. When I take intentional time with God without the distractions of the world my soul is at Peace

Day 9 of 30: Red Letter Teachings
Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus was tempted in the wilderness after 40 days of fasting. Satan used His vulnerability (food), scripture and lavish visions to get Jesus to follow him and veer off course and fall into sin. Thats what sin is, right? Coming off the path that God has for us and taking an easier route? an enticing route? a seemingly more fulfilling route? One that separates us from our faith in the long run? Jesus, knowing full well that He was going to be tempted by Satan, prepared himself by fasting. There is so much wisdom packed into this story that can be taken away and applied to our own lives. Here are my top 3: 1) Know scripture so it can't be used against you. 2) Stay diligent in preparation. Don't be naive to how the enemy will work in your life. 3) The deeper and stronger your faith grows, the more the enemy will come to try to create wavering in your faith.

I came back and listened to this a 2nd time tonight. It hit different after having some time to process stuff. I know that the enemy knows my weaknesses and I have to be aware when those areas feel magnified like they are trying to pull me under. Temptation is real and it's hard sometimes to not give in. Thank you Jaimee, the timing of this message blows me away.
