5 contributions to Put yourself first, guilt free
Weekend journey
A gentle practice for this weekend: When someone asks something of you, see if you can say: ā€œLet me think about that and get back to you.ā€ You don’t have to say no. Just notice what comes up when you don’t answer right away. No right or wrong — just curiosity.

Reflection for tonight’s group
I wanted to thank the members that showed up tonight for our first group meeting. I believe I will be changing the time to an hour later next week and here on to make it easier for majority of the group. Here are some reflection points that we went over tonight. Feel free to journal your answers and we can review next week or in this comment in this thread if you would like to share. 1. When was the first time you remember feeling guilty for choosing yourself? 2. Where in my life do I feel the most pressure to be easy or accommodating? 3. What does putting myself first mean to me right now, not in theory, but in real life?

Empty nester coming soon
I've been putting other people first for so long, and with me on my last child to be under age, I've actually been questioning this guilt-free living of putting myself first.

That’s awesome, you’re so close to being an empty nester and that’s a great time to start putting yourself first! I’m glad you’re here Alisa, I hope to see you tonight.

Putting yourself first
Do you feel guilty when you do something for yourself? Do you have a hard time putting yourself first and not feeling selfish? Many of us were conditioned to feel this way, and we deserve to put ourselves first without feeling guilty. Everyone truly deserves to be their own cheerleader. Unlearning and retraining how we think about ourselves with continuous positive reinforcement can be a life changer.

@Maria Frausto I can definitely see how that can be a cultural expectation. I’m glad you’re here Maria, I hope to see you on Tuesday for the group reflection.
