Mice traps
These pesky little things are chewing through my netting to get into garden beds and then eating the squash, the chillies, the green tomatoes. Even digging under a metal basket ive put over the cos lettuce to eat that as well. I decided im putting way too much effort into feeding the local mice population and needed to try traps as my husband was dead against the poison option due to our dog. Yesterday I bought 6 little traps. Set them up with cheese because I really didnt know what else to use and placed them around inside and outside netted beds. This morning I have 2 traps that were set off (cheese gone and no mice caught), 3 traps still set up with the cheese gone and 1 trap untouched with cheese insitu. Does anyone have any tips on setting up traps? Is there a better option than cheese?

Wrap fruit in aluminium foil so you still get some. Then use whatever works to get their numbers down.

I use these traps as they are pretty easy to set. https://www.coles.com.au/product/times-up-mouse-trap-twin-pack-2-pack-2765698?cid=col_cpc_Generic%7CColesSupermarkets%7CPLA%7CHousehold%7CAustralia%7CBroad&s_kwcid=AL!12693!3!683434678441!!!g!297380949971!&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20838080071&gclid=CjwKCAiA09jKBhB9EiwAgB8l-OTzZ9i2OUePxR8AN1GB2WhUATLA0rXTYKWhcjbCNyIHwiA-LGyW5xoC2pkQAvD_BwE peanut butter is my go to bait
What’s your favourite tool?
Hey Gardeners, I was sitting here during my lunch break & was wondering what is your favourite tool to use in the garden? Can the tool be used in a number of ways or does it have a single purpose? At the present I am enjoying using my bulb planter as I can dig holes with it to put in bulb, seedlings & small plants into the ground then replacing the soil around the bulb, seedling or plant when you release the handle 🪴 It’s an oldie but a goodie 😉

Azolla/duck weed/mosquito fern
I just started setting up my azolla farm. It's in my greenhouse as a way to use excess water. They will be used as food for mums chooks. Next job will be sorting out the mosquito larvae biological control. Photo to come later

Creative Momentum & New Beginnings
Hey Gardeners 🌿 As we move through this season, I’ve been thinking about momentum how it shows up in our creative lives, how it fades, and how it returns in surprising ways. Some days the ideas flow like water, and other days it feels like we’re tending soil that hasn’t sprouted yet. Both are part of the process. I’m curious to hear from the community: What’s something new you’re planting creatively or personally as we head into this next stretch of the year? It could be a project, a mindset shift, a habit, or even a tiny spark you’re just starting to explore. Let’s share what’s growing and cheer each other on. Here’s to fresh starts, steady growth, and the magic that happens when we create together 🌱

I will be starting a small new job facilitating a support group for people who hear voices. I have not done anything like this in a looooong time and I hope I do it justice. And in the meantime my garden will grow and feed me and others. I'm just going to have to learn how to manage my time and energy now that I will have a greater drain on both.
