🌍 Checking In from the South of Portugal
Hola Movers, Since tomorrow will be a travel day for me, I wanted to check in a little early this week. I've had a wonderful time here with family — plenty of beach walks, hikes, good food, and time to disconnect, recharge, and simply be present. One thing this trip reminded me of is how important it is to stay capable and prepared. Not just for training. But for life. Being able to walk for hours, explore new places, climb hills, get up and down from the ground, carry bags, play, and say "yes" to adventures without your body constantly holding you back is one of the biggest reasons we train. That's what training is really about. 👣 JUNE SESSIONS CHALLENGE If you haven't done it yet, please update your June Sessions Challenge with any sessions you've completed this week. 🏆 WINS OF THE WEEK I'd also love to hear about your wins. Big or small. A completed session.A new movement.More consistency.Less stiffness.A personal discovery. They all count and deserve to be recognized — both for yourself and for the community as a whole. 📅 LOOKING AHEAD Take a few minutes to plan your next week. Aim for 3 sessions if possible. And on those busy days when time is tight, remember that a few Barefoot Breaks are always better than doing nothing. 👋 NEW MEMBERS If you're new here, make sure you go through the Foundations Class inside the Classroom tab. Afterward, please leave a comment below the class and let me know: • How it went • Any discoveries or a-ha moments • Any questions you may have I'd love to hear from you and help you get started on the right path. Have a great week everyone, and I look forward to hearing your updates below!

Enjoy! So beautiful
🔹 Something we worked on today… (Active Squats)
One of the things that came up during today’s session was the angles of the squat. More specifically—how the upper body angle should match the angle of the shins. What I often see is this: The knees move forward… But then people close the angle of the upper body trying to “go lower” And when that happens… 👉 Part of that extra movement is coming from bending the spine instead of the lower body joints doing the work But the active squat is NOT about that It should come from: - Ankles - Knees - Hips 👉 While keeping a neutral lumbar spine (low back) What we’re looking for instead: Start by hinging at the hips Then allow the knees to move forward as you go down The angle of your torso will mostly come from your ability to hinge at the hips This might feel: - harder - more limited But that’s the point. It’s how we start building: - Control - Strength - True joint mobility I’m sharing this image below to help you visualize what I mean 👇 👉 Please take a moment to try both versions: - One where you “collapse” forward to go lower - One where you hinge first and keep things more aligned And just notice the difference And then comment below: 👉 Which one felt harder—but more controlled or stronger?

Oh gosh, much more difficult
Tripod Get Up Tutorial + Practice
I know a few of you wanted to spend a bit more time with this one… so I’ve got you 👇 Find below a YouTube video where I break down and teach the Tripod Get Up — which is the last assessment from the Movement Foundations Test. This is a powerful movement that tells us a lot about coordination, control, and how well the body works together as a system. Take your time with it. Watch the video, explore the steps, and start building familiarity with the movement. A couple important reminders: • Only attempt and practice it if it feels pain-free • If it feels too challenging right now, that’s completely okay — skip it for now (that’s also valuable information) • Go slow, stay controlled, and focus on understanding the movement This is not about forcing it… it’s about learning what your body can do right now and building from there. If you go through it: 👉 Let me know how it feels 👉 Drop any questions below 👉 You can even share a video if you want feedback (or to "show off" 😉)
