📂 ChatGPT Now Has a Proper File Library
Ever uploaded a document to ChatGPT and then spent 10 minutes trying to find it again three days later? OpenAI quietly introduced a Library feature back in March 2026 ... and it's now available to all users, including free accounts. It solves one of the most annoying things about ChatGPT. Here's how it works. Every file you upload to ChatGPT ... PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images ... gets saved automatically to your Library. Same goes for any files ChatGPT creates for you, including generated images. The useful bit is you can pull any saved file back into a new chat. Just use the attachment menu and choose "Add from library." No more scrolling through months of old conversations. A few things worth knowing: - Your chats are NOT stored in Library ... it's purely for files - Memories are separate too ... Library doesn't touch those - Project files live in their own space inside Projects - Deleting a chat doesn't delete the files you uploaded ... they stay in Library until you remove them Storage depends on your plan. Free gets 500MB. Plus and Business get 20GB. Pro gets 100GB. My honest take? It sounds small but it changes how you work. If you're regularly uploading client templates, engagement letters, or reference documents ... you only need to upload them once. Then reuse them across any conversation. Having said that, I prefer to keep important files that I want to be referenced often as 'project files'. And I find myself now working mainly inside Codex (ChatGPT) and Cowork. Have you spotted the Library in your ChatGPT yet? Are you using it? 👇

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve started using the Library, and it’s been helpful because I don’t have to keep uploading the same reference documents and templates over and over. What has helped me even more is combining the Library with Projects and a prompt library. I keep my reference materials in the Library, organize active work inside Projects, and save prompts that I’ve tested so I can reuse them instead of trying to recreate them from memory. I’m still learning, but I’ve found that having a consistent organization system is just as important as learning new prompts. It’s made my workflow much more efficient, especially for tax representation and estate planning document development
🚨 OpenAI just released GPT-5.6 ... should accountants care?
Big news this week. OpenAI has launched a new set of AI models called GPT-5.6. There are three versions. Sol is the most powerful, Terra is the balanced everyday one, and Luna is the fast, low-cost option. They've also started rolling out "ChatGPT Work", a workspace that connects to your apps and files and can build documents and presentations from a single prompt. Why this matters for accountants: - More capable models usually mean more of the fiddly admin work can be handed off - Having a cheap, fast option and a powerful one lets you pick the right tool for the job - The pace isn't slowing down ... staying curious is now part of the job I'll be honest with you ... I haven't tested any of this yet, and I'd take the bigger claims with a pinch of salt until we've seen it work on real accounting tasks. New and impressive doesn't always mean useful. So here's my question for you 👇 When you hear "another new AI model just dropped" ... are you excited, exhausted, or a bit of both? Drop one word below.

My number one priority with AI is to use it as a professional thinking partner. I am not using AI simply to get quick answers or replace my own judgment. I use it to help me organize facts, analyze tax representation issues, evaluate IRS procedure, compare possible strategies, and communicate more clearly. What is most important to me is accuracy, confidence, and sound professional judgment. AI helps me think through cases, test my reasoning, improve my writing, and develop a stronger workflow for tax resolution and representation work. In that sense, AI is not doing the work for me; it is helping me become better at the work I already do.
