5 contributions to The Learning Garden
Taking action through AGRICULTURE
Hey all, I’ve been a little quiet in here recently. I’ve been slowing but surely, in the small amounts of time that I have (father of 4 kids under 5), building the future of the LEARNING GARDEN. What’s on the way; COURSE: How to create a Learning Garden for schools - This course is tailored towards school teachers, administrators or members of school parents and community committees who already have and run school gardens or schools who want one and don’t know where to start. This is something I’m really passionate about and speaks to my desire to assist with setting up outdoor green classrooms around the world. I feel this is pertinent work as the global shift in education continues with the advent of Artificial Intelligence. COURSE: Permaculture Action Course - This course is going to be a structured, self paced and flipped learning journey for Individuals who are looking to shift to more sustainable ways of living. It will focus on the 12th principles of Permaculture design and is actually a course that I’ve taught before in person. I’m now translating it to the online space and will have multiple project and learning pathways for people to pursue. COURSE: The LEARNING GARDEN ACADEMY - This is a learner driven, project based, entrepreneurial academy that works w/ students as they focus on specific agricultural projects in their community. These project are intended to become micro-business ventures that make money and offer value to the community at the same time. This one I’m very excited about and will have more to say in the coming weeks. It will be mostly suitable for homeschooling families. Stay tuned for more! Anyway - that’s all I’ve got at the moment in terms of an update. If anyone has any particular questions about any of the above, please feel free to drop the question below and I will answer as best I can. ALSO - fill out the poll if you would like me to reach out and give you any additional info.

NURSERY Knowledge
I’m curious about what everyone’s nursery set-up looks like or what your nursery practice is. Has anyone got a system and or some infrastructure that they have always used? Any practical tips that they want to share with us all? Post your nursery knowledge below šŸ‘‡

[NEW PROJECT] - Growing food for community
What’s up errybody!? Today I worked at a childcare centre and installed a number of wicking beds. This contributed to the first phase of their brand new community food garden. I’ll be working here a little more in the future as I assist them with programming, planting and community engagement in the new year - stay tuned! Anyone worked with wicking gardens or community gardens before? Let me know in the comments if you’ve got any suggestions for planting or community engagement šŸ‘‡

\\START HERE// *What’s your CONTEXT?*
When it comes to learning, creating, or teaching, context is everything. Your context shapes the way you learn, the way you teach, the resources you have, and the unique gifts you can share with others. I’d love to get a sense of where you’re at right now — not to compare, but to understand the different paths we’re all walking. That’s why I’ve made this super simple poll — you just click the option that feels closest to your situation. No need to write a big post (unless you want to šŸ˜‰). Your context matters, and by sharing it, we can start seeing how diverse and inspiring our community really is. šŸ‘‰ Cast your vote below!

@Sam Betteridge this is the temporary space until l can get my own personal garden land, but in the meantime I'm forging my passion where l find myself at the moment. I use to have a bit bigger space back in the northeastern countryside of Liberia Nimba county at the time l worked with the company Arcelormittal but got kicked out because l loss my job with the company, so I'm stuck with the side of my balcony because I refuse to let go of my planting passion. Hope this is not a turn down for you. Thanks

@Sam Betteridge sure l do have a little compost hole where l throw in kitchen scraps (veggies peels barely enough)near the eddoes/taro plants you saw in the video (manure no) Sad thing many Liberians don't see farming as a prestigious career so to answer your question of other gardeners near me is 2/10 persons in capital that are interested in my line of passion, that's why l call this project the tight city garden. thanks for supporting me brother.
