I’m still really trying to gain thick texture using a single layer of paint. I’ve tried both modelling paste and texture paste but neither seem to feel right to me or achieve the thickness I’m after. Have you any other suggestions?

@Shelly Rohr thank you for your suggestion! I’ll have to give this a go! :)
Day 6 of 7
Day 6 – Emotion Today’s focus is creating from a feeling. Pick a mood or emotion and let that guide your piece - not logic or overthinking. Think more about movement, colour, and energy rather than trying to control the outcome. Keep it loose. Show what you create today, whether you’ve been following from Day 1 or just starting now. Post your work below 👇

Trying to find my flow state again. Starting off calm and flowy but later getting frustrated and on edge. Felt good to create some spikes. Not really happy with how thin the texture paste is and grainy it is. Will later go get some modelling paste and try that on top. Work in progress.

@Rajan Seth added the second layer today using more texture paste and colour. Will try the modelling paste tomorrow with the flowers
Day 2 of 7
Day 2 – Texture Today is all about letting the surface do the work. Start by adding texture (paste, layering, anything raised), then apply ink over it and see how it reacts. Don’t try to control it too much — let the texture guide the piece. Keep it simple, even small studies are fine. Post what you create below 👇 I’ll be giving feedback.

What do people use to create texture? I’ve used adapter-Rowney texture paste

@Rajan Seth amazing this is very helpful. I’ve only ever used the texture paste and latex to create layers and clean lines. Will be starting my first piece today which is much smaller than I’m used to but will be using your floral pieces for inspiration. Wish me luck! I’m not used to smaller canvases
Everyone introduce yourself
I would love to know from you all : - what kind of art you do? and : - 1 thing that you have struggled with as an artist? I'll go first! I'm an artist focusing predominantly on abstract textured paintings, but more recently I have decided to paint things like flowers and faces. The things I have struggled with the most as an artist is knowing when to stop working on a painting, as sometimes I keep painting and then end up ruining it!

I like working with acrylic on canvas and create abstract art. Recently I’ve struggled with finding time and space to create art after having children. I crave to paint so badly but can never find chunks of time to do so or any space to pull out my materials

@Rajan Seth this is very motivational! Your right. Maybe it’s time to try a different size and style!
