Question
How many years does it usually take for you to be a airline captain
1 like • 2d
Hi Carson! It usually takes about 8–15 years from FIRST SOLO to become an airline captain, but the timeline can vary a lot depending on the airline and the industry. Most pilots follow this general path: - Flight training + building hours: ~2–4 years - First Officer at a regional airline: ~2–6 years - Upgrade to Captain: often around the 8–12 year MARK total - At major airlines, it can take longer (10–20+ years) depending on hiring, retirements, and seniority. During big pilot shortages, upgrades can happen faster, while in slower hiring periods it can take longer. However, during hiring booms we are seeing now it can and maybe significantly less. It is an ever changing industry! Hope this helps!
Organization & Time Management = Pilot Superpowers
Airlines aren’t just hiring someone who can fly a jet…they’re hiring someone who can manage time, stay organized, and keep calm when the day goes sideways. 🕒 Showing up “just on time” is basically showing up late. 📋 If your logbook looks like it survived a thunderstorm… we’ve got questions. 🧳 And if you’re digging for a pen during the briefing, welcome to the cockpit circus. Strong applicants stand out by: ✅ Planning ahead ✅ Staying organized with paperwork and schedules ✅ Prioritizing like a professional ✅ Staying flexible when delays and gate changes happen (because they will) Remember: A good pilot is always ahead of the airplane… …and ahead of their alarm clock.

Hello everyone, I have flown the A320 for 9 years between North Africa and Europe. I recently got upgraded. I have always dreamed about flying in the Us one day. I would be extremely grateful if I could get any lead. I have an EASA ATPL and almost 6000h on type. Thank you.
