Update - a Win I think!
Thank you all for your kind words about the disastrous firing that ruined my kiln shelves! I had to do something because I can’t afford, nor do I have time to order, new ones right new. I took an awl and a hammer and just kept pounding away until the fired in pieces came off, taking chunks of kiln shelf with them, I dremeled all the razor sharp points down so that they wouldn’t slice my hand covered the shelves with thick kiln paper so that the glaze that is on them won’t stick to any new pieces. My bisque for next weekend fired overnight and hopefully all will be well!

Glad you were able to clean so much off your shelves. Hope everything went well in the bisque fire
I did the live demo!!
I’m waiting on more pictures from my partner, but I’d like to share this little video my son took as soon as I was set up. I took aprons and buckets and towels and a bunch of clay and did live demos at this fun event at a cool hotel in Tucson. I also let people sit down and give it a try! I had posted a while ago asking if that was a crazy idea, but it was not too crazy at all! I had a table off to the side, and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to be dealing with cash so I put it all up as “pay what you can” and the honor system. Honestly, I just wanted to clear off my shelves and I was happy for folks to grab something they loved at a price that felt right to them. It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time! People had such a great time, and a hip group of younger artists all had a try and all said it was like meditation, therapy, one young woman even said that she felt so energized, like if she had gone to yoga! I made about $170 from tips and pay-what-you-can in the 3 hours I was there. That is really good for me because when I’ve done markets, I’ve made much, much less. If I could do this more often, I would! I enjoyed it thoroughly. And I did get a bunch of people ask if I teach classes. Even though that wasn’t even my goal to get new students, I feel like this live demo thing would be a great way to do that!

TOTAL DISASTER!
Low fire pieces were fired to Cone 5! Totally ruined my only 2 kiln shelves and I have an event next week and can’t fire without shelves!

What an absolute bummer. I hope you are able to work out a way to get your shelves back to a useable state. 😩
