Michelangelo I've always loved that quote. Not because of the carving. Because of the seeing: Michelangelo didn't start with a hammer and chisel. ...He started with a vision. He could already see what was hidden inside the stone. Only then did the work begin. Yet most people do the opposite. - They work. - They grind. - They hustle. - They chip away day after day. But ask them what they're actually creating and many can't tell you. - What is the sculpture you're trying to reveal? - What are you building? - What will your life look like when the work is done? - What will your family say about you? - What will your community remember? - What legacy will remain when you're no longer here? Without a clear picture of the finished masterpiece, it's easy to spend years carving away at the wrong piece of marble. As Zig Ziglar said: "Most people are wandering generalities rather than meaningful specifics." The people who achieve extraordinary things are rarely the busiest. - They're usually the clearest. - They know what they're trying to create. The question is simple: What are you working to set free? And when people look back at your life, what will they say was your masterpiece? If you're not completely clear on the answer, helping people design that future is what I do.
